Chapter 132: The Third Overseer

This was the third Overseer Shen Mo and Bai Youwei had encountered.

It was unknown how many Overseers the game had in total.

So far, each Overseer had been drastically different.

The first, the Rabbit Head Gentleman—it had a snow-white rabbit head and the slender, androgynous body of a young boy. It spoke with a detached calmness, like an emotionless robot.

The second, a golden sphere—it had no human form, yet possessed the voice and temperament of a human child: lively, cunning, mischievous, and fond of concealing rules as a prank.

The third, the one before them now—it could be said that this was the closest to "human" of all the Overseers they had seen so far.

Its appearance resembled a blond, blue-eyed male model from a magazine, dressed in a white suit. Its features were incredibly gorgeous and handsome.

However, what was startling was its height! It was incredibly tall! Its long limbs were like those of a manga character!

In a manga, such proportions would be aesthetically pleasing, but in real life, standing right before their eyes, the visual impact was indescribable, sending shivers down their spines!

It walked up the slope, coming within arm's reach, towering over even the tallest among them, Shen Mo, by several heads! If Shen Mo had perfect nine-head-to-body proportions, this creature likely had at least twelve.

"Welcome, everyone. I am the Overseer for this game. I hope we can spend some pleasant time together," the Overseer said with a smile.

No one spoke. Everyone stared at it, their nerves on edge. Pleasant was out of the question; they only hoped they wouldn't die too quickly.

The Overseer's gaze swept leisurely across each of their faces, its tone relaxed. "There are a total of 18 players this time. Now, which of you will become my friends?"

Bai Youwei frowned slightly.

She remembered the game's theme was "A Friend's Gathering." Now, the Overseer was talking about making friends with it. Could it be that the Overseer would also participate in the game this time?

"Everyone, do you see that long white table down the slope?" the Overseer asked.

Everyone looked as instructed.

At some point, a long table had appeared on the grassy slope below.

It was covered with a pristine white tablecloth, upon which sat 18 exquisite glass vases.

Each vase was not filled with flowers, but with half a vase of clear water, pure and translucent, shimmering with a golden light.

"The theme of this game is 'A Friend's Gathering'," the gorgeous Overseer said to them. "As a matter of courtesy, bringing flowers is essential when attending a gathering. Only those who bring me the most beautiful flowers can become my dear friends."

Shen Mo asked, "Where are the flowers?"

The Overseer pointed into the distance. "Follow the path down the slope, through the woods, and you will enter a field of flowers…"

It paused slightly, the smile on its lips deepening.

"In 400 BC, the great philosopher Socrates led his students to an apple orchard and asked each student to pick the apple they considered the biggest and best. They could only choose once and could not turn back. Now, you must do the same—

I need you to enter the flower field, where all varieties of flowers in the world are grown. Each of you will bring back one flower, making only one choice, and you cannot turn back.

Finally, I will choose the 10 most beautiful flowers out of the 18, and those who bring back these flowers will become my friends and attend the friends' gathering."

Everyone suddenly understood.

This was just a preliminary selection; the real "Friend's Gathering" hadn't even begun.

"What happens after we become friends?" Bai Youwei asked. "What do we need to do at the gathering?"

The Overseer's exquisite blue eyes looked over, a smile appearing. "Oh, my dear young lady, what happens after is a secret. I can only tell my friends."

So, only those who qualified as "friends" could know what this gathering was truly about.
