Chapter 191: The Gluttonous Snake

The entire building trembled!

The floor, the walls, every piece of flesh quivered and shuddered!

Bai Youwei huddled under a table, watching the fleshy tumors hanging from the table's edge jiggle incessantly. Nausea churned in her stomach, so severe she wished for death!

Thankfully, fate hadn't completely abandoned her. At least she had a refuge—

She buried her face in Shen Mo's chest, clinging to him, breathing deeply. The clean, masculine scent mingled with sweat emanating from him soothed her, easing the intense discomfort caused by the surrounding flesh.

Shen Mo seemed oblivious.

He had no time to notice their current intimacy.

Holding Bai Youwei, he peered through the gaps between the table and chairs, his gaze fixed on the restaurant entrance. He witnessed a gigantic monster slithering past the windows and door!

Ten minutes ago, when he first saw it, its body was only as thick as a road. Now, it had grown so fat that it filled even the sidewalks on both sides!

It was like a rumbling train speeding past the door, shaking all the nearby buildings!

The tremors lasted a full seven or eight seconds before its entire body finally passed!

The vibrations gradually weakened.

As the distance increased, they finally disappeared.

Silence returned…

Shen Mo lifted Bai Youwei and placed her back in her wheelchair. Cheng Wei, Tan Xiao, and Pan Xiaoxin emerged from the kitchen, their faces pale with lingering fear.

"Mo Ge…" Tan Xiao glanced back at the kitchen, then said hesitantly, "The guy inside said this is a Snake Maze. Only when the gluttonous snake reaches its maximum length and size will the exit open. His companions who entered with him were all eaten by the snake. He was injured while escaping and has been trapped here ever since."

Snake Maze?

Shen Mo frowned. "That giant creature outside does fit the description of a gluttonous snake. After eating, its body grew longer and larger."

"Is it fast?" Cheng Wei, concerned about safety, asked, "With our current physical condition, can we outrun it?"

Shen Mo considered this, then slowly shook his head. "Its speed didn't seem to change significantly. In the game Snake, the purpose of acceleration is to increase difficulty. If the snake hits a wall, it's game over. But from what I saw, this snake is unaffected even if it hits a wall, so increasing its speed is pointless."

Pan Xiaoxin, his face pale, said, "Then… doesn't that mean this snake is… immortal?"

"The most important thing in a maze is finding the exit, not fighting monsters," Bai Youwei said, suppressing her nausea. "But the problem is… most Snake games are endless. There's no real 'winning.' Some modes have levels, but they also have a scoring system. You need to reach a certain score to unlock the next level. Does this maze have a hidden scoring system we don't know about?"

Pausing for two seconds, she covered her nose and mouth, continuing, "Also… if we keep hiding inside, how can we determine when it has reached its maximum length and size? Can we trust what that man said?"

Despite her overwhelming nausea, her mind remained sharp.

Shen Mo thought for a moment. "Let's go back inside and ask him again."

The group returned to the kitchen.

Seeing them, the man slumped on the floor looked up with a terrified expression. "You saw it, right? That snake… has it grown longer again?"

Shen Mo observed the man's fear, studying his expression. He said slowly, "It has grown longer. However, due to its size, it seems confined to the outside and can't enter the building. We should be relatively safe here."

The man breathed a slight sigh of relief, then glanced nervously outside. "When it's at its largest and smallest, those are the safest times. But when it's in between, you absolutely cannot be seen by it! That snake eats everything! Besides the flesh here, it will devour anything it finds!"
