Chapter 29: The Frog's Golden Ball

The darkness only lasted for five or six seconds, but it felt like an eternity.

Bai Youwei squinted as a sphere descended from the opening at the top of the cave. Its diameter perfectly matched the opening, so as it came down, it completely blocked the only source of light.

As the sphere descended, light flooded back in, and everyone saw a golden ball suspended below the opening. Bathed in sunlight, it gleamed with a brilliance that was almost blinding.

"Hello everyone! I am the warden of this game. Welcome to the Doll Game!"

The golden ball spoke.

Its voice was lively and childish, like that of a five or six-year-old.

It spun in the air, floating past each person, creating a gust of wind.

"There are so many players this time! Five, six, seven, eight, nine… Wow, so many! Twenty-eight, twenty-nine, thirty… thirty-three! There are a total of thirty-three players participating this time! Please take the game seriously and do your best to clear it!"

People stared at the golden ball in fear, their nerves on edge.

Even Brother Hui and his gang of thugs were too stunned to move.

"Why are you looking at me like that? Hey! You, the woman, and you, why are you crying? You should be happy to play the game!" The golden ball quivered. It had no facial features, yet its tone was strangely expressive.

"Don't tell me you don't want to play?" It hummed unhappily. "Refusing to play will turn you into a doll, you know? You should have known that when you came in! You can't not play the game!"

"How do we play? Tell us the rules." Zhang Hua stood up, flicked the mud off his glasses, and put them back on, his face wooden and resigned. "We're all going to die sooner or later… I just hope it ends quickly."

He seemed to have given up struggling, his eyes devoid of any will to live.

"It will be quick." The golden ball giggled. "The game only lasts for 20 seconds, it will be over in a flash!"

Shen Mo frowned.

The place was dimly lit and covered in mud, making it difficult to run or jump. With only 20 seconds to play, it didn't bode well for the players.

Bai Youwei also frowned slightly.

She was well aware of her weakness. If the game involved physical activity and had a time limit, she would likely meet her end.

She couldn't rely on being carried again.

With the ground covered in mud, having Shen Mo carry her would only lead to both of their deaths!

"Now, let me explain the rules of the game. Listen carefully, everyone! I will only say it once. If you forget the rules, you will die easily~"

The "oh" at the end of its sentence was drawn out.

The childish voice was irritating, but no one cared. At that moment, they were all terrified, hanging on to every word as the golden ball announced the rules.

It spun around once.

The golden sphere shimmered in the light.

"Did you all see that? This is a golden ball. In a moment, I will launch myself from a random location, at a random angle, and with a random force. Your task is to find me within 20 seconds."

The golden ball spoke in a smug tone. "As long as one person finds the ball, everyone can pass! It's easy, right? Simple and fun! Much better than the games those other wardens come up with, don't you think?"

"What counts as finding it?" Tan Xiao, fearless as a newborn calf, stepped forward and asked, "Does it count if I see it with my eyes?"

"No, it doesn't." The golden ball swayed in the air, mimicking a human shaking their head. "There are two criteria for finding the golden ball:

One, your hand must touch the ball.

Two, the ball must be in a stationary state."

It floated a little higher and said helpfully, "To help you understand better, let me demonstrate!"
