Chapter 28: The Cone-Shaped Space

"Doll game? What doll game?"

Tan Xiao pulled his leg out of the mud and walked towards the bespectacled man with difficulty. "Mr. Zhang, what did you mean just now? What doll, what game? I don't understand."

The bespectacled man hung his head weakly, his entire being shrouded in gloom, his lips stiffly opening and closing. "No need for me to say, you'll understand soon… I've only experienced it once, that time… There were sixteen of us… In the end, only I survived…"

Tan Xiao stared at him blankly, then scratched the back of his head, his expression somewhat bewildered.

Suddenly arriving at such a place, it was like entering the lair of an unknown monster. People trembled with fear, and some even started to cry softly.

Shen Mo lifted Bai Youwei from the mud and looked around, but found nowhere to place her. Everywhere he looked, there was only wet mud, not even a clean place to set foot.

Bai Youwei pointed to the giant snail not far away, and Shen Mo carried her towards it, stepping into mud puddles with each step.

It was unknown whether they had shrunk or the snail had mutated, but the snails here were each as big as a double-door refrigerator! However, having already seen rabbits as big as dogs, seeing such a snail didn't seem so unacceptable.

Fortunately, only the shells remained, the insides were empty. Otherwise, a horror movie would surely unfold.

Bai Youwei sat on the rough surface of the protruding snail shell. Her long skirt was soaked with mud, heavy and thick, and she had to struggle to maintain her balance.

The environment they were in was a huge mud pit. Surrounding them were slippery stone walls that narrowed as they went up. At the very top center, there was only a small, round opening, like a well, going straight up.

Sunlight streamed in from the opening, making the middle of the cave bright while the surroundings were dim. The farther away from the opening, the darker it got, until it was almost pitch black at the corners.

Simply put, it was like a cone-shaped space covered in mud.

After settling Bai Youwei, Shen Mo helped up Teacher Cheng, who was not far away.

They were in the same car, so their landing spots were close.

The poor sixty-year-old man's face was pale, covered in mud, his legs soaked in muddy water, his knees trembling uncontrollably.

Shen Mo helped Teacher Cheng onto another snail shell and looked around again. The others also climbed onto snail shells one after another to avoid soaking in the mud.

So far, no game master had been seen.

However, this place was large and dimly lit, with countless snail shells providing cover. Perhaps the game master was hiding somewhere?

Curses came from not far away. It was the three thugs who had caught the bespectacled man.

Hui Ge, the leader, grabbed the bespectacled man by the collar and said threateningly, "Zhang Hua! How dare you lie to us! Why didn't you mention the game at the rest area before?!"

He had politely called him Mr. Zhang before, but now he directly called him by his name.

Tan Xiao grabbed Hui Ge's arm, also getting involved in the fight. "You still dare to lay a hand on him?! Didn't you have enough last night? Let go of him! … I'm talking to you! Are you going to let go or not?!"

The few of them pushed and shoved each other in the mud pit, unable to gain the upper hand. Soon, they were panting heavily.

The bespectacled man, Zhang Hua, slumped in the mud and looked at them like they were dead men. "What's the use even if I did mention it? Would we have been able to escape if I had?"

"Bastard!" Hui Ge cursed angrily and turned to climb the stone wall.

However, the stone wall above was slippery, and the mud below was soft and collapsing, leaving his hands and feet with nowhere to grip.

Zhang Hua sat in the mud and watched them with a smile. "Don't waste your energy. If I were you, I would be carefully observing the terrain now, so as not to be caught off guard and wait for death when the game starts."

"Who the hell are you saying is going to die?!" Another thug with a crew cut yelled angrily and stepped forward to teach him another lesson.

The light in the cave suddenly dimmed.

Darkness descended.

Then, a childish voice rang out:

"Eh? There are so many players this time…"

Everyone jumped in fright and held their breath.

Rustling sounds could be heard in the darkness, as if something was slowly coming down along the vertical, circular opening…
