Chapter 5: Little White Rabbit, White as Snow

All the people arrived at the starting line of the track.

The track only had two lanes, but it was very wide. Sixteen people standing side by side in a line didn't seem crowded at all.

Behind them were giant rabbits with ferocious faces. The rabbits jostled each other, baring their teeth, snorting and panting, hot breath spewing from their nostrils. The soft fur on the sides of their noses almost touched the ankles of the people in front, as if they could take a bite out of them if they got any closer.

The long-haired woman's legs went weak with fear. She clutched her husband's clothes tightly with one hand, tears streaming down her face.

Her husband scolded in a low voice, "Let go! How am I supposed to run if you're holding me back?!"

The young man with yellow hair watched them coldly, squatted down, and retied his shoelaces.

The girl with glasses took off her high-heeled sandals. After thinking for a moment, she picked them up again and held them tightly in her hand.

The middle-aged man in a suit took off his jacket and stared nervously at the finish line ahead.

… Sixteen people, each silently preparing themselves.

Bai Youwei lay on Shen Mo's back, her heart filled with anxiety. She asked him in a low voice, "Are you a fast runner?"

"Not bad," Shen Mo replied.

Bai Youwei thought about it and asked again, "Am I heavy?"

Shen Mo lifted her up slightly and said in a flat tone, "Not bad."

Why was everything just "not bad"? Bai Youwei felt uneasy. Just as she was about to ask another question, she heard the rabbit head person say, "Ready—"

The rabbit head person pulled out a starting pistol from his top hat and raised it high.

Everyone's nerves were on edge!

A figure suddenly dashed out from the starting line!

Boom!

A blue lightning bolt shot out from the rabbit head person's palm like a giant blade! Bai Youwei clearly saw the body being struck by the electric light! Then it twisted, blackened, and shattered!

The air seemed to solidify.

No one spoke.

To be smashed to pieces…

The rabbit head person withdrew his hand, his voice both gentle and indifferent, "False starts are against the rules. Players, please pay attention to the starting pistol."

Bai Youwei's hands and feet were ice-cold. She lay quietly on Shen Mo's back, the last trace of luck in her heart gone.

She whispered, "Shen Mo, wait until they've all run off before you start. Don't worry about the rabbits biting me."

Being bitten by a rabbit would only cost her a piece or two of flesh, but a false start would mean instant death.

"Don't worry," Shen Mo said, bending slightly and getting into position. "Neither of us is going to die."

"Ready—!"

The rabbit head person raised the starting pistol again.

Bang!

The starting pistol fired, and everyone dashed out from the starting line!

The man beside them started a step slow and was immediately pounced on by a rabbit, letting out a shrill scream! In an instant, his skin was torn open, and bright red blood splattered onto Bai Youwei's leg. If she still had feeling in her legs, she would have felt the warmth and stickiness.

"Honey!" the long-haired woman cried, her pace slowing. She didn't know whether to keep running or go back and save her husband.

Someone shouted, "Leave him! Run!"

But it was too late. The rabbits were like zombies that had smelled human flesh. As soon as they saw someone slow down, they immediately pounced on them, tearing and biting!

The woman screamed miserably, but no one dared to look back.

Everyone ran forward desperately!

Run, run!

Faster!!!

Shen Mo, carrying Bai Youwei on his back, ran in the middle of the pack. At the very front was a thin man who ran exceptionally fast, leaving everyone else far behind.

The 200-meter distance, neither long nor short, was quickly covered as they approached the finish line.

At that moment, the translucent sign at the finish line suddenly changed!

The words "Finish Line" disappeared, replaced by a single sentence:
