Chapter 123: Let Me Guess

At seven in the morning, someone from the island knocked on their door, saying they were here to register their information.

Bai Youwei, who had been woken up, had a face dark enough to rain.

With Shen Mo shielding her, she managed not to lose her temper. But after the registration was completed and the person left, she couldn't bear it for even a second and immediately went back to bed to catch up on her sleep.

During this time, she vaguely heard Shen Mo say to her, "Let's go out and have a look. Don't run around alone in the room."

She thought she was dreaming and her mind was still foggy from sleep, so she mumbled into the blanket, "Can I even run? You overestimate these two legs of mine."

She faintly heard him chuckle.

Then the sound of footsteps faded away, the door was closed, and there was a soft click.

Strangely enough, she was so sleepy that she was about to die, but after hearing the click, her mind became more and more awake.

She found herself unable to sleep.

She took out her phone and looked at the time, it was only half past seven.

Last night, they had taken a boat and landed on the island. After settling into the hotel room, it was already late into the night when they finally slept. They were severely sleep-deprived!

But now, she couldn't sleep!

Bai Youwei got out of bed with a gloomy face, stayed for a while, and then began to wash, change clothes… and then went out in her wheelchair.

The resort hotel was situated between mountains and water, so the surrounding environment was naturally good, with orchids in the secluded valley, verdant pines and cypresses, and an endless view of green mountains and clear waters.

Teacher Cheng, dressed in an old-fashioned white shirt, was sitting in the garden outside the hotel chatting with someone.

The other person was wearing a linen shirt and a straw hat, half of his face covered by the brim. It was not until Bai Youwei got closer and heard his voice that she recognized him as Uncle Zhao, who had invited them aboard the ship yesterday.

Seeing Bai Youwei come out, Teacher Cheng said with a smile, "Weiwei, you're up. Why don't you sleep a little longer? I just brought back breakfast, but it's still hot. The air is good here, why don't you take a walk around and eat when it cools down a bit?"

Soybean milk and steamed buns were placed on the stone bench. She didn't know what filling the buns were.

Bai Youwei let out a faint "Oh" and didn't go far, finding a shady spot nearby to stay.

The morning was very quiet, the quietness mixed with the smell of daily life. From time to time, people passed by the garden - young men going fishing together with their nets, women carrying baskets and chatting and laughing, and aunts and grandmothers coming in and out to dry their sheets and clothes.

Further away, the freshly baked steamed buns from the restaurant were emitting hot steam, the white vapor drifting far away, carrying the original sweet aroma of rice noodles.

It was truly amazing. Outside, it was a matter of life and death, but here, it was peaceful and serene, making people feel unreal.

Cheng Wei was still chatting with Uncle Zhao.

Perhaps because they were about the same age, they had a very pleasant conversation.

Uncle Zhao complimented Cheng Wei for being knowledgeable and cultured; Cheng Wei sincerely praised Uncle Zhao for being a man of great ambition.

Cheng Wei gave Uncle Zhao a thumbs up and sighed, "I've been a teacher all my life, but I'm only confined to a classroom. You're different, you're a man with a broad mind, that's why you're able to manage the food, clothing, housing and transportation on this island in such an orderly manner. Everyone lives in seclusion on the island, living and working in peace and contentment. Your place is not much different from a Peach Blossom Spring!"

Getting excited, he even recited a poem: "Through winding paths in Wuling one arrives, at a secluded spot, a hidden paradise. Where chickens, dogs, and peaceful scenes arise, a glimpse of ancient times, a sweet surprise. Who first discovered this idyllic space? The stream still flows, peach blossoms grace."

Uncle Zhao laughed heartily and said, "It's nothing, it's the result of everyone's hard work. But we just planted a batch of corn in July, if we can harvest it in October and plant another batch of wheat, maybe we can really build a Peach Blossom Spring."

Teacher Cheng laughed, "Not far off, not far off at all!"

Bai Youwei narrowed her eyes and looked at the two old men lazily.

The sun gradually rose, and the shade shifted little by little.

Bai Youwei's wheelchair moved along with the shade.

It wasn't until around eleven o'clock that Shen Mo and Tan Xiao finally returned. Seeing Bai Youwei enjoying the shade under the tree, they walked over.

"Don't say anything yet." Bai Youwei looked at them with a smile. "Let me guess… You didn't see the transport ship, did you?"
