Chapter 199: Just a Scratch

“Another snake?!” Bai Youwei exclaimed in shock.

Ever since they realized they were in a Snake game maze, they had subconsciously assumed there was only one snake! How could there be another one?

Just how many of those monsters were there?!

“…Wait a minute, why would that guy mislead us?” Bai Youwei furrowed her brows, unable to understand. “Doesn’t he want to get out?”

“Could it be that we’re mistaken?” Tan Xiao said matter-of-factly. “Some Snake games have multiplayer modes, where many snakes compete for pellets. You have to avoid touching other snakes, or you’ll turn into pellets yourself…”

Shen Mo glanced at him indifferently. “He must have intentionally misled us, otherwise he wouldn’t have said that the exit only opens when the snake reaches its maximum length and size.”

Tan Xiao pondered for a moment, then realized the implication, muttering, “Yeah… If there are multiple snakes, then which one needs to meet the requirement to open the exit? …Damn it!”

Tan Xiao stood up angrily, cursing, “He dared to trick us!”

He turned to leave, intending to confront the other man.

Teacher Cheng stopped him, earnestly persuading him, “You’re still injured. Treat your wound first. It’s still bleeding… really…”

Tan Xiao frowned, reaching out to touch the wound on his waist. Besides blood, there was a layer of sticky stuff, a bit itchy and stinging, very uncomfortable.

“Damn, I hope that monster’s teeth aren’t poisonous,” Tan Xiao said, his face pale as he sat back down, not daring to take any chances.

Logically speaking, after the data upgrade from the previous maze, their bodies’ recovery abilities had all improved to varying degrees. A mere flesh wound shouldn’t still be bleeding after so long.

Bai Youwei used a tissue to wipe the wound, getting a handful of sticky goo. It looked like blood but wasn’t, more like a mixture of some kind of gelatinous substance and blood.

She stared at the reddish, viscous substance, lost in thought.

Shen Mo said, “Regardless of his motives, that man wasn’t telling the truth. Now that there’s more than one snake, we need to think of other ways to open the maze exit.”

“He smiled just now…” Bai Youwei said suddenly.

Everyone looked at her.

Shen Mo asked, “What?”

Bai Youwei furrowed her brows in thought, slowly saying, “Just now… when the snake came, I saw him smile…”

After a pause, she looked up at Shen Mo, her tone certain, “He’s not afraid of the snake.”

“Why?” Tan Xiao asked, puzzled. “It’s so huge, isn’t he afraid of being eaten? I’d rather face a hundred small monsters than that one giant snake!”

Bai Youwei froze.

Yes, why?

She thought carefully, her face growing paler. “He’s afraid of the small monsters…”

When the Skin-Peeler monster tried to come in, the man had cried out in fear, and it didn’t seem like he was pretending.

He wasn’t afraid of a snake the size of a building, but he was terrified of the easily-killed Skin-Peeler? It didn’t make sense…

Bai Youwei looked at Tan Xiao’s wound, then back at the sticky, gelatinous substance on the tissue. She frowned, smearing the substance on the table. The crimson and light red stuck to the tissue, thicker than blood, softer than flesh. It was hard to say what it was.

Why wasn’t he afraid?

Could it be…

Bai Youwei’s face suddenly turned white. She abruptly looked up at Tan Xiao.

Tan Xiao was startled by her look. “What’s wrong? Is there something wrong with my wound?”

“Teacher Cheng! Take out the mud!” Bai Youwei suddenly said.

Cheng Weicai immediately reached into his pocket.

Tan Xiao was bewildered. “Wh…What’s going on? It’s just a scratch. Isn’t using the mud a bit of a waste…”

Before he could finish speaking, Teacher Cheng was already approaching with the mud in hand—
