Chapter 112: Leisurely in the Apocalypse 15

“Lord Sage!”

When the ability users arrived, the wooden house's door was already open. Qin Jun, who rushed in first, saw Qin You collapsed on the floor. Discovering the dark red bloodstains on the scarlet carpet, his face drastically changed.

Besides Qin Jun, the expressions of several other ability users who rushed in also shifted dramatically. They looked incredulously at the tall, slender woman standing in the room, thinking they were mistaken. Once they regained their senses, they excitedly stepped forward, calling out, “Lord Sage!”

That "Lord Sage" was directed at An Qiya, not the collapsed Qin You.

An Qiya, with a calm and aloof expression, looked at the excited ability users and suddenly smiled faintly. “Kur, Alim, Banyi… It's been a while.”

“Lord Sage!” The ability users whose names were called trembled with excitement, their eyes reddening as if they had seen a deity.

Compared to them, the other group of ability users, led by Qin Jun, had extremely unsightly expressions, their gazes flickering. They looked at the woman who had suddenly appeared, the one Kur and the others called "Lord Sage," with a degree of shock. Others might not know, but Qin Jun had followed Qin You to the Oasis before the apocalypse. He knew how Qin You had obtained the identity of "Sage" and understood that the submission of Kur and the others was based on the death of the "Previous Sage."

Now the Oasis was in chaos. When Qin Jun discovered the situation in the Oasis was spiraling out of control, he realized someone was deliberately instigating it. Fearing something had happened to Qin You, he sent others to quell the unrest and came directly to find her. Who knew that just as he approached, he was repelled by something, completely unable to get near Qin You’s wooden house. He could only watch the wooden house, adorned with wooden lanterns, seemingly unaffected by the chaotic Oasis, yet its tranquility was chilling.

Only a high-level psychic ability user could achieve this, even imprisoning a peak fourth-level wood ability user.

Fortunately, the psychic barrier was quickly withdrawn. However, after they rushed into the wooden house, the situation had drastically changed. Qin You was injured, and the "Previous Sage" had suddenly appeared.

A thousand thoughts raced through Qin Jun’s mind. When he saw the Lou siblings relaxing in the corner, he suddenly understood everything. The Lou family and the Qin family truly were sworn enemies!

While An Qiya was smiling and reassuring Kur and the others, Qin Jun and the downed Qin You suddenly sprang into action. They moved simultaneously. The temperature in the room plummeted as ice cones spun in mid-air, attacking. Outside the window, the mutated plants between heaven and earth seemed to have been summoned, surging towards the wooden house.

As the two acted, the ability users in the room also moved.

An Qiya was closest to Qin You. She stepped on Qin You’s abdomen and delivered a heavy kick. Qin You howled in pain. The ability she was channeling faltered, and the summoned mutated plants slowed considerably, but still surrounded the wooden house at a rapid pace. Kur and the others simultaneously began attacking Qin Jun’s group, and the small wooden house descended into chaos.

Lou Ling immediately threw an iron vine seed at the window, protecting the entire opening. As the mutated plants sealed the wooden house and the dense floral fragrance spread once more, she left a window-sized gap for the outside air to pour in, lessening the spread of the poisonous gas.

Because of the sudden surge of floral fragrance, everyone in the house was affected. Lou Dian immediately covered Lou Ling’s nose and mouth with a wet cloth, wrapped his arm around her waist, and jumped out of the window supported by the iron vine.

Outside, the sounds of fighting could be heard in the distance, along with the attacks of countless mutated plants. A second-level wood ability user against a peak fourth-level ability user certainly didn't have good odds. Lou Ling shot out another iron vine, using its toughness to counter the mutated plants' attacks.

After getting Lou Ling out, Lou Dian had time to deal with the mutated plants that had surrounded the entire wooden house. Among them was a mutated tree planted beside the house. The tree, its species indistinguishable, had already mutated. The vines hanging from its branches seemed to have gained life, protecting the wooden house.

No matter how strong it was, it couldn't be stronger than that tenth-level mutated old locust tree!

Lou Dian wasn’t worried about the safety of the people inside the wooden house. Even if he withdrew now, it wouldn’t matter. However, if Qin You turned the tables and killed An Qiya, his efforts tonight would have been in vain. Moreover, he still deeply hated how the Qin family had aided the evildoers in his previous life, allowing Qin Ling to scheme and kill Lou Ling. Even though Qin You was far away in the desert and hadn't participated, she was still a member of the Qin family. He couldn’t suppress his disgust towards the ambitious Qin family.

As memories surged, he hurled spatial blades at the mutated tree as if they were worthless, severing its branches, vines, and leaves, striking directly at the main trunk. He leaped into the air, his spatial blade-enhanced Tang blade slashing towards the wooden house, causing the entire structure to shake.

Lou Ling stared, dumbfounded, thinking Lou Dian must have a grudge against the house to be so brutal.

This distraction allowed a sneak attack wind blade to slice her arm, and warm blood seeped out. Lou Ling looked towards the source of the wind blade and spotted lurking figures nearby. Narrowing her eyes, she quickly retreated from the attack range of the mutated vines surrounding the wooden house and summoned her iron vine. A metallic vine lashed out.

"Ah—"

A scream rang out as a person was whipped into view. Lou Ling rolled to avoid several wind blades, then swung her Tang blade towards the person who had his back to her. Blood splattered, and she swayed slightly to avoid it. She grabbed the man, who was writhing in pain and about to collapse, and used him as a shield as she continued forward.

Her speed was astonishing. The lurking figures could no longer hide and jumped out one after another. By the time she reached them, the person she had been using as a shield had been killed by his own companions’ attacks. Lou Ling threw the body, and while those in front dodged, she swept her leg, tripping two. Her Tang blade cut into the shoulder of a third, and this time, blood sprayed onto her face.

Even as fellow second-level ability users, the cowardly were no match for the ruthless!

She had taken down four, but two remained. Under their combined attack, she inevitably sustained a few more injuries. Her clothes were scorched by a fireball from a fire ability user, and she seemed to smell the scent of her own flesh burning.

The pain spurred her to relentlessly charge forward, directly into the fireball. She summoned her iron vine, which pierced through the attacker's shoulder blade.

The fifth one down, one left.

Just as she was about to deal with the last person, the man, in the midst of releasing a wind blade, coughed up blood, his eyes wide as he fell to the ground, dead.

Lou Ling quickly recovered and looked back. She saw the wooden house ablaze, and before it, the man with one fist across his chest, maintaining his spatial blade attack posture. His gaze flickered, the firelight illuminating every detail of his face.

Lou Ling wiped the blood from her face, summoned a mutated vine, and said to him casually, “I’m going to find Bach! Don’t let An Qiya die!” Without waiting for his reply, she ran towards the place where Bach and his sister lived.

Her decisive departure left him no room to refuse. She gradually disappeared into the darkness, reminding him of his past life. There were several times he could only watch her retreating figure, watching her fight in unknown places, resolute and courageous, like sunshine in the darkness, inspiring everyone's fighting spirit.

After a moment of hesitation, he retracted his gaze, using only his psychic power to monitor her movements, protecting her without her knowledge.

Lou Ling avoided the buildings and noticed ability users fighting amidst the flames. Many ordinary people had died, and the others had likely hidden themselves, sensing the danger. The smell of blood in the air made her heart ache. She forced herself to look away, crouched low in the darkness, and rushed to the wooden house where Bach and his sister lived.

She couldn't save everyone, but she had to save Bach and his sister!

The wooden house door was wide open, and the sounds of fighting and a little girl's soft cries of "Brother" emanated from within.

Lou Ling directly sent her mutated vine inside, ambushing the man with his back to her. The vine lashed against his back. Although ability users' modified bodies wouldn't have their bones easily broken, they could still feel pain. While he stumbled, Lou Ling pounced, her Tang blade flashing as she stabbed it deep into his back. She yanked it out, kicked him in the back with all her might, pinning him to the ground, and then bound him with the mutated vine.

After doing all this, she was exhausted, but there was no time to rest. She immediately scooped up Bach and his sister and quietly left the house.

Bach, previously injured by the ability user, stumbled as he walked. He tried to carry Funa until Lou Ling, unable to stand it any longer, tucked Funa under her arm. Funa, understanding the gravity of the situation, stuffed her small hand into her mouth to prevent herself from making a sound.

Bach noticed Lou Ling was heading towards the Sage’s house. His eyes flickered, and he whispered, “Miss Lou, so many people have died in the Oasis. Why did it become like this? This is clearly our home, it’s…”

“Because your true Lord Sage has returned!” Lou Ling replied.

“…”

Seeing he remained silent, Lou Ling knew he understood and didn't say anything more.

The three arrived at the Sage's wooden house. The fire had subsided considerably, and the exterior of the house was charred black, but it still stood. At that moment, Bach and the others clearly saw the man in black standing before the wooden house extend a palm, and then the house collapsed.

Collapsed…

Bach’s eyes widened as he watched the house fall and the cunning figures emerge from the wreckage. In the dim light, Bach clearly saw the tall, slender woman dragging another woman out. It was An Qiya, the true Lord Sage of the Oasis, who had disappeared two years ago.

Lou Dian didn't bother with the people who looked like they had escaped death. His gaze was fixed on the three figures huddled in the distant grass, a look that told them they didn't need to hide.

Lou Ling jumped out and ran over, her face a dirty mess of blood and ash. A wide grin stretched across her face. Although injured, she had never felt so exhilarated. Nothing compared to the joy of him letting her do what she loved.

Compared to her bittersweet emotions, Lou Dian’s gaze was cold and deep. When she reached his side, his hand clamped around her wrist like a vise, refusing to let her leave his sight.

Bach, limping, led his sister towards An Qiya and the others. When he reached An Qiya, tears suddenly streamed down his face.

An Qiya heartily patted his head and chuckled, “Bach is a grown-up now. You can’t cry like a child!”

Bach continued to cry, but a grin spread across his face.

An Qiya threw the person in her hand to the ground. Qin You was already unconscious, and Qin Jun was being held captive by Kur and the others. The rest of the ability users had died in the previous battle.
