Chapter 111: Leisurely in the Apocalypse 14

Lou Ling opened her eyes, leaped up, and sat up.

“How do you feel?”

A gentle and warm voice sounded, filled with deep concern. Lou Ling rubbed her slightly stiff neck and looked at the man beside her. The surroundings were too dark, and she could only vaguely make out his silhouette. Glancing around, she realized they were in a very dark and damp place, devoid of the scorching heat of the summer desert. It felt quite comfortable.

Lou Dian reached out and covered her neck, gently massaging it. “Did I use too much force?”

Lou Ling found herself sitting on a simple stone bed. The cool stone felt very comfortable. However, remembering what had happened before she lost consciousness, she couldn't help but glare at him. “Where’s Qin You?”

“In her room, naturally.” Lou Dian smiled calmly, appearing unperturbed, as if nothing could affect him. He treated her with exceptional tenderness.

I’m afraid the outcome won’t be very pleasant, she thought to herself. Lou Ling let him help her stand. She realized that not only her neck but also her legs and feet were somewhat weak. It seemed the poisonous gas in Qin You's room had significantly affected her, and the aftereffects were now setting in. Fortunately, she had sensed something upon entering and quickly held her breath, minimizing her exposure. That’s why she only felt some weakness in her limbs and no other major issues.

After a while, she got used to the weakness. Lou Dian handed her a wet towel, and after wiping her face, she finally felt much better. Lou Ling now had the energy to pay attention to her surroundings. Due to the dim light, it took a moment before she noticed another person sitting on a stone bed against the wall.

Although surprised, Lou Ling didn't ask any questions. Lou Dian also acted as if the person didn't exist. Only after seeing Lou Ling's condition improve did he address the person sitting on the stone bed. “Have you made up your mind?”

The person remained silent for a moment. Then, a hoarse voice, which gave no indication of gender, replied, “There’s nothing to consider.”

Lou Dian's voice became cheerful. “Good. Let’s leave this place together.”

The person slowly got up from the bed, initially struggling and supporting themselves against the wall. However, they quickly adapted. Although they walked slower than an average person, Lou Dian made no move to help. He held Lou Ling's hand and walked in front, letting the other person follow behind.

The surroundings were pitch black, illuminated only by the occasional glow of night pearls embedded in the walls. The air wasn't thin, so there was no feeling of suffocation. After walking for a while, Lou Ling realized they were in an underground cellar, and the person they were with must have been the Esper imprisoned there. Judging by the current situation, Lou Dian clearly intended to take this person out of the cellar, perhaps even using them against Qin You.

The path was short. After ten minutes, they reached the exit. The cellar was clearly built beneath the oasis, occupying a considerable area and cleverly integrated with it. At the door, there was an electronic lock. Lou Dian took out a card, swiped it, and quickly entered a password. With a beep, the door silently opened.

Behind the door was a winding staircase. Ascending the stairs, they arrived in a bedroom. The exit led directly into Qin You's master bedroom.

The entrance to the cellar was visible on the floor. After it closed, a rug was lifted to cover the traces, restoring the room to its appearance as a cozy and elegant woman's bedroom.

The three didn't rush out but stayed in the room. Lou Dian brought water and food from the wooden house's kitchen for the other person to regain some strength.

Lou Ling sat on a nearby chair, watching the person sit on the floor without any regard for appearances, devouring the water and bread. Only then did she realize that the Esper imprisoned in the cellar was a woman. Long, messy hair covered half her face. The other half, illuminated by the light, was thin and pale, making it difficult to discern her beauty. She wore clothes similar to the robes Qin You often wore, dirty and torn, hanging loosely on her emaciated frame. Her exposed wrists were so thin they were nothing but skin and bones. She ate ferociously, as if she had been starving for a long time.

After finishing, she regained some strength and said, “I want to take a bath.”

Lou Dian pointed to the adjacent bathroom, indicating she could use it freely. This wooden house was Qin You's, equipped with running water and electricity. The woman unceremoniously used the water.

“Who is she? What’s your purpose in saving her? What are you going to do next?” While waiting, Lou Ling asked three questions in a row. She didn't know what Lou Dian was planning and didn't bother guessing anymore; she would just cooperate.

“Anqiya. I saved her on a whim. We’re leaving tomorrow.”

“…”

What a simple answer, Lou Ling thought, looking at him speechlessly for a moment. Then she asked, “Her name is Anqiya. Is she the true owner of this oasis? Do you want to use her against Qin You? Um, can we really leave tomorrow? The Qin family isn’t easy to deal with.” Besides, if they just left like this, judging by Anqiya’s current weakened state, the oasis would likely still fall into the Qin family's hands.

“That’s why I brought her out.” Lou Dian spoke casually, a glint of intrigue in his eyes as he observed her thoughtful expression.

If it weren't for maintaining a good image in her eyes, he wouldn't care what happened to the oasis. Qin You stationed here not only to hold this oasis base for the Qin family but also because of the ammunition in the cellar and Anqiya's existence. Now that he had moved half of the ammunition and given the rest to Anqiya, the oasis wouldn't descend into chaos.

Thinking this way, he suddenly felt like a good person, truly a supportive husband!

After learning his plan from him, Lou Ling was surprised that he had considered everything so thoroughly. She had assumed he wouldn't bother with other people's affairs. Lou Dian disliked being constrained and avoided even the Northwest Base's affairs as much as possible. How could he possibly want to establish a base in this apocalyptic world as his own power? So, she had assumed he wouldn't care what happened to this oasis. If Qin You provoked him, he would simply kill her, without regard for the oasis's fate after Qin You's death. Now, seeing his arrangements, she was surprised and couldn't help but wonder if she had misunderstood him all along.

The bathroom door soon opened, and Anqiya came out wrapped in a bathrobe, her long hair still dripping water. She walked straight to the table, picked up a small pair of scissors, and abruptly cut her hair to shoulder length. She used a clean towel to comb her hair back, then walked to the wardrobe, opened it, took out a robe, and changed right in front of them, discarding the bathrobe.

Lou Ling's first reaction was to cover Lou Dian's eyes. She herself stared blankly as the bathrobe slid off the woman's body, revealing a pale and thin female form. Although emaciated, her physique was well-proportioned and slender, surprisingly captivating with her narrow waist, long legs, and shapely hips. The mysterious triangular area was particularly alluring…

“Little girl, your nose is bleeding!” The woman turned around and said with a smirk. Her voice was still a bit hoarse, yet it held a seductive quality.

Lou Ling immediately covered her nose, mumbling, “The weather’s hot. I’m getting heatstroke.” After speaking, she remembered the man beside her. He pulled down the hand covering his eyes, revealing his dark, sparkling gaze. He looked at her with a smirk, making her scalp tingle. She could only force a stiff smile, inwardly mortified.

It’s really not my fault that I had a nosebleed looking at her body, she thought. This woman has a mysterious power that’s mesmerizing! It’s really not my fault!!

Anqiya had finished changing. The dark red robe with its exotic flair looked unique on her. Her face was thin, with prominent cheekbones, amber eyes, and thin lips. Coupled with her slender figure, she couldn't be considered a beauty by any standard, yet she exuded a peculiar charm.

Noticing Lou Ling staring at her again, a flicker of killing intent flashed in Lou Dian's eyes as he smiled gently at Anqiya.

Anqiya straightened her face and asked, “Where’s Qin You?”

“Outside.”

Anqiya tucked her shoulder-length dark brown hair behind her ear and strode out.

As soon as Anqiya left, Lou Ling instinctively tried to follow, but someone pressed down on her shoulder, pushing her back against the wooden wall. A shadow loomed over her, trapping her between the wall and the darkness.

Seeing the man's gleaming eyes against the light, Lou Ling was startled, sensing he was acting strangely. “Brother, outside…”

Before she could finish, she was bitten. A sharp pain shot through her shoulder, forcing her to tilt her head back, passively enduring the bite that trailed from her collarbone up to her lips, leaving a burning sensation. It was painful, but not unbearable.

“…” He really is a pervert, biting me like this!

Feeling guilty, Lou Ling didn’t resist as he continued for a while. When his breathing calmed, she quickly grabbed his hand. As he turned to face the light, his expression softened, and he became the handsome man she knew. She cautiously said, “Let’s go out and have a look. I won’t look at her, I promise.” She didn't understand why, but she couldn’t take her eyes off Anqiya, even though she wasn’t conventionally beautiful. It was as if she were bewitched.

“Mm. Don’t look at her. Her Esper ability isn’t just purification; it’s also bewitchment.” Lou Dian licked his lips where Lou Ling couldn't see, tasting blood. He had indeed broken her skin.

Hearing this, Lou Ling felt resentful. So that was it. It wasn’t her fault at all, yet this man had taken advantage of the situation. How hateful!

When they reached the living room, they finally understood that Anqiya wasn't weak at all; she was, in fact, quite formidable. She had only appeared weak because she had been imprisoned and starved for so long. Now, well-fed and clean, sitting on the sofa, she resembled a proud queen.

Glancing around, they saw Qin You, clad in a thin veil, slumped on the floor. The veil was stained with blood, the crimson stains accentuating her alluring figure, making her even more seductive.

Lou Ling once again felt the urge to cover a certain man's eyes.

Qin You's face was pale, her eyes filled with fear and resentment. When she saw Lou Dian and Lou Ling emerge from the room, her gaze intensified, wishing she could kill them on the spot.

“You’re just in time.” Anqiya's gaze swept over Lou Ling, seemingly noticing what they had been doing in the bedroom. She covered her mouth with a chuckle and said, “The Espers outside will soon notice something’s amiss. I might need your help.” She took a deep breath and smiled. “It’s time to reclaim what belongs to me! Mr. Lou, let’s begin.”

Lou Dian smiled faintly and withdrew the mental barrier that had enveloped the wooden house.

A flash of joy crossed Qin You's face. She realized she could communicate with the mutated plants outside again and quickly used them to notify Qin Jun and the others to rescue her.

Suddenly, Anqiya raised her foot and kicked Qin You, sending her flying. Qin You crashed to the ground, the blood staining the red carpet a darker shade.

“Does it hurt? That’s how I felt when you betrayed me!” Anqiya looked down at her with a fierce glint in her eyes.
