Chapter 271: Help Me Up, I Can Still Be Saved! 32

Marriage, typically a joyous occasion, yet within this small courtyard, a palpable sorrow hung heavy on the faces of all the guests, save for him.

He was slow to realize, the smile on his face instantly fading, but the young woman holding his hand maintained her smile, her eyes brimming with joy.

“Brother Qinglan,” she said, “we haven’t drunk the nuptial wine yet.” As she finished speaking, a snake woman presented them with wine cups.

Mo Qinglan's eyes were filled with overwhelming fear, his entire body frozen in place. Finally, Su Tang placed a cup into his hand.

“In a wedding ceremony, no step can be missed, or it won’t be complete.” As she spoke, she began to cry, though a smile remained on her face. “Brother Qinglan, we can make it complete.”

By the time she finished speaking, the fear in Mo Qinglan’s eyes had transformed into a bloody crimson. He held her close, yet he could still feel her slipping away.

Helplessness, fear, and terror washed over him again, and even his hands holding her began to tremble. This… was the second time.

Yet he was powerless, just as he had been the last time.

He had so much he wanted to say, so much he wanted to do, but in the end, he suppressed it all, responding in a voice of utmost tenderness, “It will be complete.”

With these words, he raised his wine cup. What began as a shared cup became him downing the strong wine and then, lowering his head, passing it to Su Tang through a kiss. His movements were gentle, as if handling a precious, fragile object. But even so, some of the wine still trickled down her chin.

The young woman wore heavy makeup, as if to conceal her frail appearance. But as the kiss ended, the color drained from her once vibrant lips.

Su Tang seemed to guess what he intended to do. She grasped his wrist, shaking her head with a smile. “It’s no use.”

How could Mo Qinglan accept this? He gritted his teeth, his voice hoarse. “I haven’t even tried, how can it be no use?”

Su Tang looked at him with a smile, as if wanting to etch his image into her very bones, into her soul. “I know my own body. And… it’s enough. Being able to meet you in this life, it’s enough.” As she spoke, she recalled the past, a familiar smile gracing her face.

Bright and radiant.

Mo Qinglan's eyes instantly reddened, his voice trembling. “You’re wrong. The greatest misfortune of your life was meeting me.”

If it weren't for him, she would still be the cherished eldest daughter of the Yun family, proud and free-spirited.

But Su Tang shook her head. “Brother Qinglan, the fifteen-year-old me was the happiest person in the world, because I had you.” Her voice weakened, but her smile blossomed. “I was willful and possessive, but if Brother Qinglan wanted something, I would give you everything. So you… must be happy.”

The Yun Qingchu of those days wasn't as perfect as Mo Qinglan remembered. She was spoiled, willful, and possessive. He had always indulged and pampered her, but she had never considered giving back.

She had basked in all his kindness, while directing all her bad temper towards him.

So, those days in the small town, she was making amends.

Mo Qinglan wasn't foolish. Thinking back on the past, he now understood everything.

But he didn't want any of that. All he wanted, from beginning to end, was her.

Mo Qinglan's eyes were bloodshot, stinging with unshed tears. It was the ultimate pain, a pain so profound that it made one forget how to cry.

“I don’t want anything, Qingchu. Except for you, I don’t want anything. Don’t leave…” His final words were almost a plea.

Su Tang reached out and touched his cheek, her eyes filled with tenderness. It was the first time she had looked at him with such an expression. “I’m not leaving. I am your wife. Your wife, forever.”

Mo Qinglan was rooted to the spot by her words. Yes, they were married. No matter where she was, she was his wife.

“Ding, Blackening Value decreased by 100%. Points for this world have been successfully unfrozen.”

On the table, the red candles burned slowly. But no matter how slow, they would eventually extinguish.

Mo Qinglan held her for the entire night, never loosening his grip, until the person in his arms breathed no more.

Everyone expected him to go mad, to lose control, to wreak havoc. However, he did nothing, not even preserving Chuyue’s body.

In the end, he only took a painting and a handwritten copy of the Nine Styles of the Heavenly Sword.

Those were the only two things she left behind, things that belonged solely to her.

Everyone in the Heavenly Sword Sect was on edge – the Sect Leader, the Peak Masters. They had even prepared countless comforting words. But when they actually saw him, they couldn't utter a single one.

He was still dressed in yesterday's red wedding robes, his hair neatly tied with a jade crown. Aside from the crimson in his eyes, he looked almost the same as usual.

The True Dragon opened his mouth, but in the end, only patted his shoulder.

Truthfully, he was afraid of Mo Qinglan's collapse. He had waited until now because he feared that no one in the Heavenly Sword Sect, or even the entire cultivation world, would be his match. After all, he was the old man's son, with madness and bloodlust flowing through his veins.

Mo Qinglan said, “Don’t worry. Qingchu said this world is beautiful. After I’ve traveled across these mountains and rivers, I will find her.”

And then, he would take her on that journey again.

The True Dragon didn't say anything discouraging. After all, miracles did exist in this world.

He only said, “If there’s anything I can help with, don’t hesitate to ask.”

The True Dragon was returning to the heavens, but he was certain that when Mo Qinglan had traveled the world, it would be the day they reunited in the Heavenly Court.

For them, there was no such thing as absolute demise. As long as something existed, there would be traces to follow.

Author's Note:

Mo Qinglan never believed that Yun Qingchu was truly dead. He traveled the world and finally ascended to immortality.

Becoming an immortal was only his first step.

He needed to become stronger. He searched the mortal realm for three hundred years, using soul-searching techniques. Unable to find her, he went to hell. Not finding her in hell, he went to the demon realm, then the demon realm to the Yao realm…

Finally, he learned to tear through space, and in a small world, he found the person he had longed for.

Her face was unfamiliar, her clothes strange and peculiar. But as he approached, his body, frozen for three thousand years, instantly awakened.

His lips parted slightly, a soft chuckle escaping, as he prepared to call her name. But then he saw her being embraced by another man.

He stared at the red-clad man, his gaze cold.

He was an immortal, with formidable power. Yet, even he could sense that this man was not to be underestimated.

“Hello, I’m Feng Ye.”

“Mo Qinglan.”

Neither of them extended a hand, simply introducing themselves. But even this simple exchange caused the earth to tremble and the sky to change color.

Screams erupted around them, people stumbled and fell, and the more fearful ones burst into tears.

“Holy crap, an earthquake?”

“Run! Run!”

The bustling street descended into chaos. Only Su Tang stood frozen in place, not daring to turn her head.

At this moment, only three words filled her mind:

I’m screwed!

A truly epic scene of utter failure. Let's have a moment of silence for Su Tang, entering her retirement. Three seconds, no more. (This extra takes place when Pippi Tang completes all her missions and enters retirement mode. This rotten author will write it after the main story ends. Oh, and the male lead is the same person, these are all his soul fragments! We’re not doing NP!)
