Chapter 120: Haunted by Evil Ghosts 1

The New World unfolded before Su Tang, a chilling and eerie landscape that left her completely speechless.

"You mutt! Instead of sleeping at home, you drag me to a graveyard for a rave in the dead of night? Your idea of fun is getting more and more outlandish!"

The last time, she almost starved to death. The time before that, it tossed her into a mental hospital. This time, it outdid itself, dumping her straight into a graveyard. Was it even going to give her a chance to live?!

The system chimed in, "Weren't you all thrilled when you were being cheeky before? What's wrong, not feeling so thrilled now?"

Su Tang was rendered speechless.

This was truly her very own, personal system, specifically designed to make her life a living hell!

As their conversation continued, memories of this world began to resurface in her mind. Su Tang burst into tears.

And at this moment, her dear system chose to twist the knife, "You have half an hour to summon the Ghost King, or you'll become a ghost yourself. But don't worry about this world, even if you become a ghost, you can still complete the mission."

Summon my foot!

With her memories fully restored, Su Tang was even more acutely aware of the dire straits she was in.

Honestly, the missions she had undertaken in the past, at the very least, involved saving the male lead, even if it was done covertly. However, the mission in this world came with its own inherent darkness. The world was out of balance, ghostly energy was running rampant, and the underworld was on the verge of collapse. To restore order, they needed to find a Ghost King to suppress the scattered ghostly energy.

Truth be told, this world did have a Ghost King. Unfortunately, after falling into a slumber a thousand years ago, he had yet to awaken. Otherwise, the underworld wouldn't be in such a panic.

Su Tang's mission this time was to awaken the Ghost King.

The previous Ghost King hadn't dissipated; he had merely separated a sliver of his soul to be reborn as a human. But if the memories of this soul fragment weren't reawakened, he would never truly awaken.

And to say "reawaken" was really just a euphemism for making him die. Once dead, she would perform a summoning ritual, and with his three souls and seven spirits reunited, his memories would be restored.

To achieve this goal of getting him killed, Su Tang had dedicated herself wholeheartedly, going to any lengths, no matter how absurd.

This soul fragment of the Ghost King had been reborn as Feng Ye, the Third Young Master of the Feng family in the Mystic Realm. In public, the Third Young Master was aloof and noble, but behind closed doors, he was ruthlessly exploited by his entire family. After all, he was a Ghost King, inherently different from ordinary people. Using his blood for alchemy and talisman creation yielded extraordinary results. Feng Ye had his blood drained for twenty-two years, leaving his body frail and weak. But even as a sickly young man, the Feng family, fearing his potential rebellion, withheld any teachings of mystic arts, keeping him seemingly protected and cared for.

The Feng family held a certain status in the Mystic Realm, so naturally, they kept this matter tightly under wraps. Outsiders only knew that the Third Young Master was delicate and fragile, as fragile as a flower vase. Thus, Feng Ye lived for twenty-two years, without friends, without family, utterly alone. Even the girlfriend he eventually had was devoid of any genuine feelings.

Because that girlfriend was none other than Su Tang.

This time, Su Tang's identity was that of the youngest daughter of the Zhong family in the Mystic Realm. Pampered and doted on since childhood, she grew up with an incredibly spoiled and arrogant personality. Honestly, with this kind of character setup, she was practically begging to be cannon fodder, the type that wouldn't even survive past the third chapter.

Becoming Feng Ye's girlfriend was actually quite simple. The Feng family's blood-draining scheme wasn't blatantly obvious. They merely told him that he was in poor health and took advantage of his monthly medical treatments to secretly draw his blood. He had never attended school, receiving all his education from private tutors. The aloof and fragile Third Young Master of the Feng family, as he was perceived by the outside world, was unexpectedly naive.

Su Tang's appearance left a deep mark on his pale and lonely existence. However, in the end, she still betrayed him.

She still vividly remembered the words she had spoken to Feng Ye, who loved her deeply, telling him that he was nothing but a substitute. The person she truly loved was his elder brother, not someone so weak that he needed a woman's protection.

Using the male lead as a substitute, an emotional fraud – after saying those words, Feng Ye had coughed up a mouthful of blood.

Thinking back on all the wicked deeds she had done, Su Tang wished she could just melt into the ground. What was the point of playing this game anymore? She might as well just come clean, offer herself up to be chopped into pieces, and maybe, just maybe, by the time her soul was scattered to the winds, the big boss, in a moment of good mood, would choose not to succumb to his dark side.

Just as she was contemplating whether there was even a sliver of hope for her to redeem herself in her final moments, she heard an ancient, hollow, and chilling voice coming from beneath her feet.

"Little girl, you're stepping on my grave. Move aside, or I'll get angry, and I might just eat you."

Su Tang: "…"

She wanted to eat a ghost right now!

She might have been a good-for-nothing in the past, but as the youngest daughter of the Zhong family in the Mystic Realm, even with her shoddy mystic arts, dealing with this kind of small fry was still a piece of cake. With a single talisman, she yanked the ghost up from the ground.

The ghost clearly hadn't expected to encounter such a tough opponent. It trembled in fear, its ghostly form seeming to shrink. "No, little girl, I was just kidding! Don't be angry, please don't be angry!"

Su Tang sneered, "I'm not joking with you." She glanced around. Based on her understanding of the system, there had to be a reason it had dumped her here. She questioned the ghost, "Have you noticed anything strange around here lately?"

Even if their mystic arts were lousy, members of the Zhong family in the Mystic Realm still had a few life-saving treasures. After she left, the system would take control of this body and ensure 'her' demise as quickly as possible. This place was bound to be dangerous.

The ghost whimpered. The cold wind howled through the night, making the already eerie and terrifying graveyard even more sinister.

Su Tang frowned, "Speak now, or I'll scatter your soul."

"I'll talk! I'll talk!" The ghost was so terrified that it was practically shaking in its spectral boots. Its form seemed to shrink even further. Suddenly, it looked up, its long, scarlet tongue shooting out towards Su Tang. Just as it was about to reach her, a talisman erupted in flames, burning the tongue to a crisp.

Late at night, this scene was quite the spectacle.

The system spoke up, "Kid, I just did a scan. There have been quite a few deaths around here recently. But that ghost we just encountered was just a small fry, nothing too dangerous. The real issue is this graveyard itself. It's an array."

Su Tang, "What do you mean?"

The system, "It's a one-way ticket in, no way out."

Su Tang: "…"

Fantastic.

The system, "So, let's not try to be heroes here. Let's just summon the Ghost King. Maybe we'll get to keep a soul fragment or something."

Su Tang was not one to give up so easily. Arrays? She knew a thing or two about those.

Twenty minutes later, she was deflated.

She could understand arrays, but that didn't mean she could break them. This particular array was incredibly malicious. It required a living person at each of the four cardinal points to unlock, or alternatively, a burst of extremely potent spiritual energy to brute-force it.

Unfortunately, she had neither.

As time ticked by, Su Tang found herself caught in a dilemma. Just then, a cry for help reached her ears.

Without hesitation, she ran towards the sound. There, she saw three young men and women, phones in hand, running and chattering amongst themselves.

One of the guys exclaimed, "Holy crap, my livestream viewers! This graveyard is seriously creepy!"

A girl shrieked, "Ahhh… This is terrifying! Mommy, I want to go home!"

At first glance, there seemed to be nothing behind them except the rustling of the wind. But Su Tang, as a descendant of the Zhong family, could clearly see the anomaly trailing behind them.
