Chapter 277: Death God's Sacrifice 6

The Death God's Hall knew no difference between day and night. Su Tang didn't know how long she had been tormented, only that her entire body ached, everywhere, especially her stomach. She felt like she was about to faint from hunger.

Then, she actually fainted.

Her fainting was timely. Moca hadn't yet left to request a magical beast from the Demon King when she collapsed on the ground, motionless.

The Death God walked towards her with a gloomy expression and kicked her with his foot. He didn't use much force, but he was the Death God after all. If she were truly feigning unconsciousness, this kick would have woken her. However, the ugly woman didn't react at all, remaining as still as death.

Seeing his master's displeasure, Moca immediately stepped forward to examine her, then frowned. "Master, the symptoms are the same as last night." He paused, then suddenly remembered something. Looking up, he said, "Master, Lady Persephone seems to have similar symptoms, sleeping and waking at fixed times."

His voice grew weaker with each word, laced with apprehension.

"I beg your forgiveness, Master."

The Death God had previously stated that Sophia was merely a sacrifice, expendable at any moment. Persephone, however, was different. Although she was a cat, a seemingly ordinary black cat, as long as the Death God favored her, her status in the entire underworld was second only to his.

Therefore, comparing Sophia, the sacrifice, to her was an insult.

Fortunately, Su Tang was unconscious. If she were awake, she would have exploded.

However, her current mood was also terrible. Having just awakened within the little black cat's body, she was still disoriented. She barely managed to lift her head within the cramped, dark confines, only to see the Death God kick her with a grim face.

Su Tang felt suffocated. Was that a kick a normal human could withstand?

Damn, just kill her already!

"Meow!"

Su Tang was worried about Sophia's body, hoping no bones were broken. As she struggled, she nearly tumbled out of the Death God's pocket.

Her fur stood on end in fright. She braced for impact with the ground, but thankfully, someone caught her mid-fall.

The Death God was very displeased. This was the second time. What was it about that damned ugly woman that attracted Persephone? Or rather, what about her attracted his underworld beasts?

"There are still some unresolved matters concerning her. I won't touch her for now. However…" He lowered his gaze. Although he held her carefully, his voice was icy. "Persephone, if you approach her again, I will end her life right now."

Although the Death God had given her a name, he rarely used it, usually calling her "stupid thing" or "dumb thing." Addressing her by her full name usually indicated his anger.

Su Tang was furious, but for the sake of her life, she had to endure. To appease him, she even extended her pink tongue and licked his hand ingratiatingly.

"Meow."

Her coaxing was insincere, but the Death God actually smiled.

He was already handsome, and this smile dispelled much of the coldness surrounding him.

"That's a good girl." Having been repeatedly provoked, the Death God was easily angered lately. Yet, strangely, as long as this little creature exposed her belly or licked him, he would be content, his anger vanishing.

He had previously questioned himself. Was he, the Death God, so easily appeased?

But later, he thought, forget it. He would, of course, spoil the little creature he raised.

As soon as the little black cat woke up, the Death God's attention shifted entirely to her. "Stupid thing, you have two days, no, to be precise, a day and a half left to live. Have you made up your mind? Who will be your sustenance?"

Su Tang was faced with such a terrifying choice the moment she woke up. The entire cat felt awful.

Couldn't she just die in peace?

For the first time, Su Tang had the urge to reveal her true identity. So many worlds had taught her that secrets like this couldn't be kept forever. They would eventually come out. If it were a secret with some value, or one that could earn some sympathy, it would be fine. But now, facing a life-or-death situation, with her life on the line, what was the point of keeping up the charade?!

"Meow!"

So hurry up and look! Don't damage Sophia's body! She still needs it!

The Death God's budding smile vanished instantly. "Forget it, Moca. Throw her to the beasts. Any one of them will do."

This ugly woman might know some beast taming techniques, but now, unconscious, he didn't believe those beasts would still listen to her.

Moca acted swiftly, picking her up and tossing her in front of Cerberus.

Then, he was immediately proven wrong. Cerberus not only gently licked her with his tongue but also attempted to warm her with his massive body.

The Death God's expression cracked. Only Su Tang was so happy she almost patted the big guy's head.

Good boy, her affection hadn't been wasted.

Of course, she would be happier if he hadn't licked her.

However, Su Tang's happiness was short-lived. She forgot that besides Cerberus, there were seven or eight other different beasts present. They gathered, and seeing her pleased expression, they all rushed towards Cerberus, starting a fight over her.

Her good friend seemed to enjoy what Cerberus was doing, so they couldn't be outdone. Since their friend liked this body, they had to protect it.

Such a bizarre scene made even the Death God frown.

What had gotten into them?

Indeed, in the Death God's eyes, these beasts had just been obedient to the human, and now they were fighting over her.

Su Tang's expression wasn't much better. Cerberus was one thing, but why were the other beasts joining in? Were they trying to tear her apart?!

"Meow!"

Dragging her weak body, Su Tang was both angry and helpless. Despite their fearsome reputation, once you got to know them, the beasts were just a bunch of big softies.

Her small body emitted a weak sound, but surprisingly, all the beasts stopped.

Although they didn't understand why their friend had two bodies, if their friend was unhappy… then… they would stop.

Yes, they would stop.

They all obediently crouched behind Sophia, docile and obedient.

Su Tang felt that if the Death God continued to play these games, she would be done for within three days. She had originally planned to use the little black cat to pave the way for Sophia's identity, but the Death God wasn't playing by the rules. She had initially hesitated to reveal herself because the little black cat had done many shameless things to survive. Even now, thinking about it made her want to hide her face.

Dark history, it was definitely a dark history!

But now… forget it. Dark history was dark history. It was better than losing her life.

"Meow."

Resigned, she extended a black paw, pointed at herself, then at Sophia lying on the ground, and then extended another small claw, gently writing a single word on the Death God's hand.
