Chapter 292: Death God's Sacrifice 21

The two deities were severely injured, their divine power unstable. Su Tang suddenly recalled the recent uproar over the deities being killed, an incident that had even caught the attention of Death.

“My Lord, what do you think the person behind this wants by killing so many deities?”

The two deities, one male and one female, were both unconscious. Su Tang watched Mo Ka apply medicine to their wounds. The massive wounds practically split their chests open, a gory mess. If they were humans, they would have been long dead.

Death examined the wounds, his eyes cold. “Dark power emanates from the wounds.”

Compared to the male deity whose abdomen was ripped open, the goddess's injuries were less severe. Not long after, she slowly regained consciousness.

Her face was pale, but it didn't detract from her beauty. On the contrary, this paleness made her appear even more delicate. However, a deity was still a deity. The moment she opened her eyes, a potent aura of power sent chills down one's spine.

“Who are you?”

Su Tang peeked out from behind Death. The deity's gaze, initially wary, turned to astonishment upon seeing her. “A human?”

In the eyes of deities, humans were like ants, so weak as to be almost negligible. Therefore, seeing a human here, the deity’s murderous aura lessened considerably, and her gaze softened.

It was common knowledge that deities looked down on humans. So, for a deity to harbor a human in their dwelling almost certainly indicated a kind and gentle heart.

However…

The deity glanced at Death. Kindness wasn't a word one would associate with him.

Death, expressionless and businesslike, said, “Name, what happened.”

The number of deities was vast; Death couldn't possibly know them all. However, Su Tang was surprised. Where did this deity come from, that she didn't even recognize a first-grade deity like Death?

“Storm.” For deities, their divine power was equivalent to their name. “My friend and I were ambushed at sea.” As she spoke, she seemed to suddenly remember something. “Right, where’s my friend?”

Death replied, “He’ll live. Continue.”

Storm, however, said, “No, I have to check on my friend. His divine power is very weak.”

Anxiety filled her eyes, and she climbed out of bed. Death frowned, a hint of impatience in his expression, but ultimately, he had someone take her to her friend.

After confirming the other deity's safety, Storm seemed to lose all her strength and collapsed onto the ground.

She exhaled heavily, as if finally free from danger, no longer forcing herself to stay strong. “Thank you.”

Su Tang shook her head and asked curiously, “You said you were at sea, but how did you end up here?”

Storm didn't hide anything. “Within tens of thousands of miles, I only sensed divine power here, so I used the last of my strength to bring my friend here.” She finished, glancing at Death with a hint of gratitude. “Although I don’t know who you are, thank you.”

Su Tang still found it unbelievable. The person beside her was Death! And this deity didn't recognize him.

So, she asked, “After becoming a deity, have you never interacted with other deities?”

Storm looked at her, raising an eyebrow. “I don’t like those schemes and intrigues. I became a deity to be myself.”

Where there were people, there was conflict, and the same was true for deities.

Su Tang, encountering such a deity for the first time, her eyes lit up. “You’re very special.”

Indeed, compared to the deities she had met at the Divine Realm banquet, this one was a breath of fresh air.

As they chatted, Storm and Su Tang hit it off, leaving Death aside, quite bewildered.

A human and a deity, different species, what could they possibly have to talk about?

“Persephone, you should go practice your magic.”

Death’s voice interrupted their conversation. Storm was taken aback. She had initially assumed the human was a servant, as many deities chose beautiful humans as slaves. But now, it seemed this human was more like this deity’s lover.

Speaking of which, she still didn't know his name.

His aura was so terrifying, capable of suppressing her, a third-grade deity. She thought for a moment and quickly placed him.

“You’re Death.”

Death didn’t deny it, simply saying, “You should rest.”

His voice was cold, his face revealing an aloof coldness. Storm didn't find it frightening, only shrugging and smiling as she bid farewell to Su Tang. “Little human, let’s chat again next time.” She finished, seeing the other nod obediently. Storm understood why that Lord doted on this little human.

Sweet and soft, and cute, with a pair of jade-green eyes that seemed to speak. When she smiled, her chubby little face made her want to pinch it.

Unfortunately, before she could make a move, the Lord, known for his coldness, nearly killed her with his glare.

She chuckled, thinking this Death was completely different from the rumors.

Meanwhile, Su Tang didn't go to practice her magic. Instead, she tugged on Death’s hand excitedly. “My Lord, let’s go investigate the sea?”

Death frowned. “You’re too weak.”

No one knew the current situation at sea. If something happened, the little one wouldn't be able to defend herself.

Thinking of this, he felt he needed to intensify her training so he wouldn't have to worry constantly.

Su Tang was completely unaware of the impending nightmare, instead clinging to him and acting coquettishly. She now had him wrapped around her finger. With a tsundere Death God, if acting cute once didn't work, try twice.

And so, the one who had previously acted indifferent, now sighed helplessly. “You can come, but don’t run around.”

Su Tang nodded obediently, thinking to herself, it’s so dangerous, I’m not stupid, why would I run around? Only by the male lead’s side is it safe.

“Don’t worry, My Lord, I won’t go anywhere except by your side.” After saying that, she took his hand.

Death never commented on her initiative, but the corners of his lips curled up almost imperceptibly.

The azure sea, boundless and vast.

Su Tang looked at the calm sea surface. If Death hadn’t detected the divine power fluctuations, it would have been almost impossible to tell that a great battle had taken place here not long ago.

“My Lord, can you tell what happened?”

Death didn’t answer, instead asking her, “What about you?”

Su Tang replied, “I think something’s not right.”

Death’s lips curled into a doting and indulgent smile. “Tell me.”

Su Tang didn't answer, but instead used her own, not particularly strong, power to strike the sea surface. As the calm scene was broken, many fish floated belly-up to the surface.

She said, “Look, even I can cause this much of a commotion. Not to mention the third-grade deity Storm, even the other one should have left some trace.”
