Chapter 34: I Remember You

“So hungry, so hungry.”
“So hungry, so hungry.”
“So hungry, so hungry.”

The room was dim. A woman hunched over, squatting by the refrigerator. Her eyes were blank as she chewed on a biscuit.

Scattered around her were snack wrappers, all opened but with food still left inside.

The refrigerator emitted a dim yellow light, illuminating the woman's vacant face. Her eyes were puffy, her face etched with tear stains. Her mouth moved constantly, chewing, but she tasted nothing.

“No taste.”
“No…taste.”

The woman tossed the white radish in her hand. It rolled a few times on the floor. "So hungry, I'd better go buy some food."

The woman stood up, her slippers dragging across the floor. She walked slowly past the living room table, picked up her phone, and headed out.

The computer on the table, accidentally brushed by her, lit up. The screen displayed:

At noon the next day, the Female Ghost woke up. She wanted to admire the cute Li Xiao Gui's face before going back to sleep. But when she came out, the ghost house was empty. The cute little ghost was nowhere to be seen.

The Female Ghost paused, thinking. She suddenly remembered that Li Xiao Gui did mention going to the amusement park in the morning.

The Female Ghost stood silently for a while, then quietly returned to her room to sleep.

Fine, no cuteness to admire for now.

At that moment, Li Xiao Gui was queuing at the entrance of the amusement park. It would be her turn soon, but she was attracted by a figure in front.

He was wearing an orange fire protection suit. He looked very young and smiled at everyone who bought tickets, saying "Have fun," as if he were a staff member.

But his face was pale. He had passed away a long time ago.

What made Li Xiao Gui curious was that this person looked exactly like the kind ticket vendor she met as a child.

As Li Xiao Gui was thinking, the person in front of her finished buying tickets and left. She followed and looked inside through the window. She saw the same face.

Li Xiao Gui was stunned for a moment. Noticing the ticket vendor's waiting and questioning eyes, she came back to her senses and said, "Hello, brother, I'd like three tickets."

The ticket vendor was no longer young after thirteen years. But Li Xiao Gui still remembered how patient he was when talking to them as little kids, so she called him "brother" subconsciously.

The moment she decided to come to this amusement park, she thought of this person.

She remembered him telling them to come back when they were older and that he would give them cute things.

Gentle people are always unforgettable.

The middle-aged ticket vendor was still patient and gentle. He smiled and said, "Okay, please wait a moment."

While issuing the tickets, the ticket vendor suddenly looked up at Li Xiao Gui with a hesitant expression.

He said, "Hello, have we met before?"

As he spoke, he looked outside, seeming to be looking for other figures.

Li Xiao Gui was stunned because she didn't expect to be remembered.

Her eyes sparkled, and she said with a sweet smile, "Yes, we came to the amusement park when we were little, but we were too young to enter. You told us to come back when we were older. We met then!"

Upon hearing this, the confusion in the ticket vendor's eyes disappeared. He smiled and said, "It's you! I knew you looked familiar. Three tickets, are you here with the same friends?"

The ticket vendor handed the three tickets to Li Xiao Gui.

Li Xiao Gui nodded, took the tickets, and moved slightly to the side, revealing Chen Yuanyuan and Shen Chen behind her. "Yes, we are."

"You are all still as cute as you were when you were little. I recognized you at first glance. By the way, I have something for you." The ticket vendor said, turning around and pulling out a beautiful bag from the drawer. "Have fun!"

Li Xiao Gui noticed a photo frame in his drawer. It was a photo of two boys with their arms around each other's shoulders.

Li Xiao Gui looked away, took the bag, and said with surprise, "Thank you." She didn't expect him to remember them all these years and even prepare gifts for them.

She looked at him and gave a small, happy bow.

Because there were other people in line behind her, Li Xiao Gui left after taking the bag. When passing by the man who looked exactly like the ticket vendor, he said "Have fun" to them, just like he did to everyone else.

Li Xiao Gui ignored him. She wouldn't care about ghosts that had nothing to do with her.

After buying the tickets, Li Xiao Gui stood aside and told Chen Yuanyuan and Shen Chen about the ticket vendor. Chen Yuanyuan's jaw dropped in surprise.

Li Xiao Gui took out the things in the bag one by one. They were three headbands.

Wolf ears, rabbit ears, and a little chick headband.

Shen Chen looked at the yellow chick headband, paused, and put it on Li Xiao Gui's head without a word.

Li Xiao Gui looked at him, puzzled, holding the remaining two headbands.

Shen Chen just silently touched the chick on Li Xiao Gui's headband.

Li Xiao Gui turned her head. Well, the chick was quite cute. She then asked, "Which one do you want?"

Chen Yuanyuan looked at Shen Chen and then took the rabbit ears headband. "I'll take this one."

That left the silent Shen Chen. He didn't want to wear it.

But Li Xiao Gui said, "Lower your head, I'll put it on for you."

So Shen Chen lowered his head.

Chen Yuanyuan quickly took out her camera and captured this scene, her smile spreading from the corners of her mouth to the corners of her eyes.

Li Xiao Gui helped Shen Chen put it on. Seeing that Chen Yuanyuan hadn't put hers on yet, she was about to ask if she needed help.

Suddenly, Shen Chen pulled her over. Li Xiao Gui turned her head and saw the face of the man in the fire protection suit, who looked exactly like the ticket vendor.

His face was magnified in front of them. He looked at them and said, "I knew you could see me."

Shen Chen's action was purely subconscious. In fact, this ghost had very little resentment and couldn't do anything to them.

The man looked at the tall young man wearing wolf ears and suddenly smiled like a boy. He said, "It's okay, have fun. It's just been a long time since I've met anyone who can see me, so I came over to say hello. I'm his younger brother. Have fun!"

The man looked at Shen Chen, who was wearing cute wolf ears but had a cold expression. The mixed elements made the tall young man look very cute. He couldn't help but smile and say, "Very cute."

He turned and floated towards the ticket booth, muttering to himself, "Ah, it's been a long time since I've talked to a living person. It feels good, it feels good…"

Shen Chen: "..."

Li Xiao Gui looked up at the ears on his head and smiled. "I think it's cute too!"

Chen Yuanyuan finally looked away from the photo, put on her headband, and said, "Let's go."

Li Xiao Gui helped Chen Yuanyuan adjust her headband and nodded. "Okay."

There were many people at the entrance of the amusement park. Li Xiao Gui held Chen Yuanyuan's hand and followed closely behind Shen Chen.

Shen Chen led the way. But there were too many people. To be safe, he looked ahead and naturally stretched out his hand behind him.

As if there were eyes behind him, his hand accurately found Li Xiao Gui's direction.

Li Xiao Gui looked and naturally put her small hand in his.

At the same time, she also held Chen Yuanyuan's hand tightly, making sure she wouldn't get lost in the crowd.

But there were really too many people, and Chen Yuanyuan only had one free hand, so she didn't use her camera this time. Instead, she took out her phone and happily pointed the lens at Li Xiao Gui and Shen Chen's clasped hands.
