Chapter 11: Chapter 11

Gu Siyi kept staring at the situation outside, not noticing the physical contact between the two, nor Xia Zhijun's abnormality.

Xia Zhijun coughed lightly, pulled out his arm, stood up, and said, "It's okay even if they saw us."

Gu Siyi stood up as well. "Alright."

Anyway, it wasn't her who made up the story. She could just play dumb.

However, the three of them had already gone down and didn't see them.

On the way back, Xia Zhijun was silent. Gu Siyi felt that he was in an indescribable mood and didn't want to disturb him.

Soon, the two arrived at Xia's house.

Xia Guangyu was away on a business trip. Peng Ling had already ordered the servants to prepare the meal. She even cooked a few of her signature dishes, waiting for the two of them.

"Hello, Auntie. I'm here to freeload again," Gu Siyi said with a sweet smile.

Peng Ling smiled and said, "I wish you could come and freeload with Zhijun every week."

She took the bags of books and helped to put them on the table. Seeing so many supplementary books, she knew they were definitely not bought by Xia Zhijun. She then praised Gu Siyi, "You bought so many books just after school started? Siyi is really eager to learn."

Gu Siyi was so embarrassed that her face turned red. She hurriedly said, "No, I just wanted to prepare in advance…"

Xia Zhijun saw her embarrassment, and the corner of his mouth curved into a smile.

The food at Xia's house was a bit spicy, which was very much to Gu Siyi's liking. She ate with great satisfaction and expressed her liking again and again.

The more Peng Ling looked at her, the more she liked her. She was well-behaved, sensible, polite, and had good table manners. She looked like a real lady.

After dinner, Peng Ling said, "Siyi, I've cleaned up a room for you. Don't go back tonight. Just sleep here. You can go back to school with Zhijun tomorrow."

Gu Siyi was too embarrassed to refuse and smiled happily. "Thank you, Auntie."

Peng Ling was very thoughtful and had prepared pajamas and toiletries for Gu Siyi in advance.

She took her to the room and showed her the things she had prepared. "These are all picked by Auntie for you. Do you like them?"

Xia Zhijun stood at the door and said, "People who don't know you would think you are her real mother."

Peng Ling laughed and said, "I've always wanted a daughter. Siyi, what do you think about being my goddaughter?"

"Okay!" Gu Siyi agreed without hesitation. If she became Auntie's goddaughter, she would be Xia Zhijun's sworn sister, and her future hug would be more stable and secure.

Xia Zhijun's originally lazy expression changed, and he said in a deep voice, "I object."

The two people in the room looked at the person at the door at the same time, both puzzled.

Peng Ling teased, "Are you afraid that Mom will be biased towards her and not love you anymore?"

Gu Siyi made a face at the side. She wasn't even your sister yet, and he's already worried about someone fighting for his mother's love.

Xia Zhijun didn't look like he was joking at all. He said coldly, "Anyway, I object."

He turned and left, raising his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose, feeling an inexplicable fire in his heart.

Why were adults' words like farts these days? Before, they said they had arranged a baby marriage for them when they were young, and now they wanted to recognize a goddaughter. They changed their minds so quickly. What was wrong with them?

Because of Xia Zhijun's objection, the matter was left unsettled.

Late at night, Gu Siyi was lying in bed, chatting with her mother.

Gu Siyi casually mentioned the matter of becoming a goddaughter. She complained, "You don't know what he looked like at that time. He said no with a straight face, as if I was going to steal his mother… It made me so embarrassed and lose face."

Xu Jiayi said, "After all, your Uncle Xia is a high-ranking official. Everyone wants to be related to their family. Brother Xia may be a little sensitive. However, you should also pay attention. With your familiar personality, be careful when you get along with Brother Xia. Don't be annoying."

Gu Siyi sat up from the bed and asked in disbelief, "What did I do? Am I already annoying?"

"In short, it's not likable. Otherwise, people won't reject you."

Gu Siyi felt a stab in her heart, her expression miserable.

Xu Jiayi said something else, but she was not in the mood to listen. She perfunctorily said a few words and said, "I won't talk anymore. I need to be alone to heal my wounds… I'm hanging up, Mom. Good night."

She threw the phone aside, lay down, and sighed several times.

She thought they were already on the friendship boat…

Could it be overturned just like that?

In the dead of night, Gu Siyi heard the sound of a piano.

The melody was ethereal and beautiful, like a weeping complaint. After listening for a while, she recognized it as the theme song of "Castle in the Sky."

Curiosity drove Gu Siyi to get out of bed, walk out of the room, and follow the source of the sound.

Her room and Xia Zhijun's room were both on the third floor, and the sound came from the living room on the third floor.

The living room was not lit, and the moonlight poured in like a waterfall. The young man sat in front of the piano, bathed in the faint moonlight, playing alone.

Gu Siyi stood at the corner, looking at his side face under the moon from a distance.

At this moment, she was certain that he had a kind of arrogant, indifferent, and independent temperament.

When the song ended, Xia Zhijun looked at the figure reflected on the piano cover and said, "What are you doing hiding there?"

"Ah? I'm not hiding," Gu Siyi leaned against the corner and said, "I heard that people need a safe distance between them. Crossing the line will make people uncomfortable. You have a cold personality, so you may need a larger distance, so I'm standing here."

Xia Zhijun closed the piano cover, got up, and walked towards Gu Siyi.

Standing in the corner, Gu Siyi watched as the young man's handsome and slender figure got closer and closer, even with a sense of oppression. She suddenly felt a little scared.

Xia Zhijun stopped in front of her, propped his arm against the wall, looked down at her condescendingly, and asked slowly, "Are you sulking because I objected to my mother recognizing you as her goddaughter?"

"No. Absolutely not." Gu Siyi immediately denied it. "How could I be sulking because of such a small matter? Impossible!"

In order to show her sincerity, she even put on a bright smile.

Xia Zhijun looked at her quietly.

Gu Siyi felt that her fake smile was about to stiffen.

Finally, she couldn't hold on any longer. She stopped smiling and pursed her lips.

Xia Zhijun lightly tapped her forehead with his finger and said, "Gu Siyi, you're not good at lying. Because all your emotions are written on your face."

"Really? Is there? Really?" Gu Siyi played dumb three times in a row. In fact, her ears were red with embarrassment.

Through the bright moonlight, Xia Zhijun could clearly see every subtle change on the girl's face.

He raised his hand and touched her small, round earlobe. Gu Siyi, who was looking around with guilt, was startled, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on. She suddenly raised her eyes and stared blankly at Xia Zhijun, her eyelashes fluttering.

The corners of Xia Zhijun's mouth curled up into a smile. His thumb and index finger gently played with her hot earlobe, as if he didn't intend to let go.

He said in a lazy voice, "I also heard that people who are touched on their ears can't lie. I want to hear the truth."

Gu Siyi's earlobes became hotter and hotter. Under such psychological pressure, her little cleverness and hypocrisy couldn't hold on anymore. She looked at Xia Zhijun's toes and said, "… Well, I'm just… Okay, I'm just a little unhappy…"

"Why?" he continued to ask, his hands not idle, the smile on the corner of his mouth carrying a bit of mischief and a bit of satisfaction.

"I feel like I've been rejected. You reject me in your heart, so you object to me being your sister… Actually, I don't care. It's not like I have to have this title. I just think that if this is the case, we can interact more and have a better relationship in the future. You will cover me with your halo of being a top student… If you are not happy, then forget it. I really don't mind. Don't think that I'm annoying," Gu Siyi said all her thoughts.

Xia Zhijun chuckled. "So you have a fragile heart."

Gu Siyi was so embarrassed that she took a step back, away from his clutches. In an instant, her confidence returned. "I said I don't care! How can I have a fragile heart!"

Xia Zhijun leaned against the wall and smiled without saying a word, as if he was enjoying the little pet that was teased to the point of being angry.

"I'm not talking to you anymore. I'm going back to sleep." Gu Siyi muttered and turned to leave.

"First, I don't hate you."

The young man's lazy and clear voice came from behind.

Gu Siyi stopped.

"Second, there are many ways to get closer to me."

"Such as?" She turned her head to look at him curiously.

"Such a simple question, and you still need me to write down the answer?"

"Being mysterious." Gu Siyi snorted softly.

However, she was happy to hear Xia Zhijun say that he didn't hate her.

Walking to the door of her room, she turned her head to look, and Xia Zhijun was still standing there, lazily leaning against the wall, his dark eyes looking at her.

Gu Siyi said, "You should go to bed too. And, your piano playing is very nice."

.

The next day, when Gu Siyi was having breakfast with Xia's mother and son, Peng Ling received a call.

After hanging up the phone, she looked at Gu Siyi apologetically and said, "There's something urgent at work. I need to go now. I can't accompany you today."

The original plan was to accompany them to the Science and Technology Museum in the morning, take them to see an art exhibition in the afternoon, and then send them back to school.

Gu Siyi hurriedly said, "It's okay, Auntie. Work is important. We can go next time."

Peng Ling smiled and turned to Xia Zhijun. "Accompany your sister well and go to school together in the afternoon."

Xia Zhijun didn't say anything, his expression indifferent.

After Peng Ling left, they finished their breakfast. Gu Siyi asked Xia Zhijun, "What are we going to do today?"

"Whatever," Xia Zhijun said indifferently, getting up and going upstairs.

Gu Siyi followed behind him and asked, "Are you unhappy?"

"No," he said without turning his head.

"Are you really unhappy? Why? Just because Auntie left?" The more Gu Siyi spoke, the more surprised she became. "No way? You're such a big man and you still can't leave your mother?"

Xia Zhijun stopped, turned to look at her, his eyebrows furrowed with impatience, his tone cold. "If you were stood up countless times since childhood, wouldn't you have a psychological aversion to this kind of thing?"

Gu Siyi stared at him blankly, digesting his words for a few seconds before saying, "Oh, so you're the one with a fragile heart."

Xia Zhijun: "…"

He casually picked up a plush doll that was used as a decoration and threw it at Gu Siyi.

Gu Siyi turned her face away and steadily caught it in her arms. She followed him upstairs and persuaded him with a smile, "My parents were often not at home when I was young, and there were times when they didn't keep their promises. Let me tell you, the most annoying time was when my mother told me that she would buy me a limited edition Barbie doll if I got into the top ten in my class…"

"Heh…" Xia Zhijun couldn't help but laugh. He turned his head and flicked her forehead. "Useless."

Gu Siyi covered her head and said, "Don't you think it's annoying? I worked so hard and thought about it so much, but she just brushed it off so lightly. So, sometimes, they, as parents, are particularly unreliable. We'd better not take it to heart, or we'll be angry to death."

"You don't have to teach me." Xia Zhijun sat down in front of the computer and turned it on.

His eyes were cold and gloomy as he looked at the black screen.

He didn't care anymore. Even if their busyness and blindness had once caused him to suffer unwarranted disasters. The past was in the past.

However, today was the first time Gu Siyi came to his house as a guest.

He hoped that he could, as he said, accompany this girl to spend a happy weekend, instead of going back on his word and leaving as soon as he said he would.
