Chapter 120: The Ruthlessness of an Honest Man

Mr. Kang was different from the freeloader. He always brought his own ingredients.

And he would help wash the vegetables.

Not only that, but he could also help pick up Kangkang from school.

All in all, he wasn't just there for a free meal.

However, it was past five in the afternoon, and Yue Qin still hadn't messaged him to come home for dinner.

He had been working all day, hadn't even rested at noon, and had rushed to finish all his work before five o'clock.

Mr. Kang didn't hesitate any longer and sent a message directly: "Will you be on time today? Do you need me to pick up Kangkang from kindergarten?"

As soon as he sent the message, Yue Qin's call came.

"Are you free today? I saw on the news that something happened at the company."

"It's been resolved. Do you need me to pick up Kangkang from kindergarten?"

"I thought you might be busy, so Little Treasure asked Teacher Liu to help look after him."

"What happened to you?"

"Little Treasure's grandmother had an accident, and Xia Sheng and I have to go over there."

Mr. Kang was stunned for a moment and said, "I'll go pick up Little Treasure and take him home. Don't bother Teacher Liu."

Xia Sheng had been feeling uneasy all day. As soon as she got off work, she received a call from her mother.

She said that when she got up in the morning, she fell and hit her head, bleeding profusely. Her grandmother bandaged her wound and then went out to play mahjong. It wasn't until a neighbor came back from walking their dog that they discovered the blood at the door. The dog kept barking at the door, and when the neighbor went over, they saw the blood and called the police. Only then was the door opened and she was sent to the hospital, where she was still in a coma.

The neighbor called them after sending her to the hospital. Yue Qin was worried about Xia Sheng taking a taxi there alone.

Mr. Kang rushed to the kindergarten just in time for the parents to pick up their children.

Teacher Liu took one look and saw it was this man again?

Mr. Kang had known Teacher Liu for a while now, and he knew what she was thinking just by looking at her expression.

Mr. Kang thought of what his assistant had said in the morning. Although it gave him goosebumps and made him feel uncomfortable, he had to admit that it was easy to make people think that way.

Little Kangkang came out and took his brother's hand. Teacher Liu was also observing.

Mr. Kang said, "I am his…"

Mr. Kang pointed to the child next to him and said, "His father's younger brother."

Teacher Liu didn't believe it.

Mr. Kang remembered what Big Dad had said about the wine-making grandfather being an orphan, and he made up a story: "His grandfather is my father's long-lost brother."

"So I'm actually his father's cousin. Teacher Liu, please don't look at me with such villainous eyes every time, or else, with Yue Qin and Xia Sheng's personalities, how could they possibly entrust someone like me?"

Teacher Liu had been in contact with the couple for quite some time, and it was true that they didn't seem like the kind of people who would be oppressed by evil forces.

Mr. Kang had been fooling Teacher Liu for several months now, and he continued to fool her, adding details this time: "In the car accident, I lost a lot of blood and the hospital needed blood. I have a rare Rh-negative blood type, and so does Yue Qin. He donated blood, and it turned out that we were actually related."

"That's why I was so close to them when I woke up." Mr. Kang picked up Little Kangkang: "We are family, right?"

Little Kangkang nodded: "Family."

This time, Teacher Liu was completely convinced.

As Mr. Kang walked out holding Little Kangkang, Little Kangkang sighed and said in a tone that suggested his brother had disappointed him: "Brother, this is the last time I'll help you lie."

Mr. Kang was stunned: "You know I'm lying?"

"Brother, you can't transfuse blood between relatives."

Mr. Kang: "…Why do you even know that?" You never know how much information a four-year-old knows.

"The nurses at the hospital told me when I was little."

Mr. Kang suddenly realized after hearing this and thought to himself that he would have to modify this lie again.

Little Kangkang looked at his brother, a little anxious: "Brother, why do you always like to lie?"

Mr. Kang thought to himself, because lying can effectively solve some problems.

However, this was not the time to say this, nor to teach children bad things.

"Because I'm not a good boy." Mr. Kang said, "I have a bad habit of lying, but I will slowly change it. You can't learn from me. Lying is a bad thing."

"Did someone tell you that you're not a good boy?" Little Kangkang was a little anxious: "Don't listen to their nonsense. Lying is wrong, but you can't be called a bad boy just because you lied."

"Dad said that all children make mistakes, it's a very normal thing, you can't say he's not a good boy just because he made a little mistake." Little Kangkang said very seriously: "You've always been a good boy."

Mr. Kang had a strange feeling, so it could be like this?

"Let Dad talk to you later." Little Kangkang yawned and rested on his brother's shoulder.

Mr. Kang was stunned for a moment, then hugged him and walked back, saying cautiously, "Dad and Mom have something to do today."

"What is it?"

"Do you remember the grandmother who came to our house? Mom's mother, she's sick, and Mom went to see her."

Little Kangkang was too young to understand such things. At his age, he only knew that getting sick meant getting injections, which hurt, and that medicine was bitter.

He didn't understand the meaning of death.

Mr. Kang himself had made his own way in the world, and to be honest, he was naturally more indifferent to these things than others.

He even felt that Xia Sheng didn't need to go back, since that person didn't love her anyway.

Of course, he also knew that he was being too cold-hearted, so he didn't show it in front of Xia Sheng and Yue Qin. He even asked for the ward number and ordered a fruit basket to make himself look particularly humane.

Little Kangkang thought for a moment and said, "Let's go too."

Mr. Kang had actually meant the same thing: "When we get there, we can't make her angry anymore. She's sick. We have to be patient with the patient."

In fact, by the time Xia Sheng arrived, the person had already woken up. Not only had she woken up, but she was also arguing with someone inside, full of energy: "Get out! Who let you in? Are you here to see if I'm dead or not?"

"You're such a shrew, you haven't changed a bit, no wonder no one wants you after all these years!"

Xia Sheng was about to leave when she reached the door of the ward, but Yue Qin stopped her: "Let's go in after the people inside leave."

"Since we're here, at least let's deliver the fruit basket."

Xia Sheng looked at the fruit basket and finally didn't leave.

She did hate her mother, but when she heard that something had happened to her, she still rushed over immediately.

She had never said it, but what she hated was not that she had forced her to learn boxing, nor was it that she was emotionally unstable and often quarreled and went crazy.

She just hated her, hated that she didn't love her, hated that she told her over and over again how hard it was for her to give birth to her, and how disappointed she was to find out that she was a girl.

Because when she was pregnant with her, she had always wanted to eat sour food and had always dreamed of tigers. Everyone told her that she must be having a son, and she also thought she was having a son, but it turned out to be a daughter.

She always remembered that when her mother said this, she followed it with: "You were a liar when you were in my belly."

Later, whenever she got angry, she would say to her and her sister: "If it weren't for you two, I would already have a son."

She had lived in guilt since she was a child. Her mother wanted a son and had worked so hard to get pregnant, why didn't she have the sense to be reborn into her family.

If her mother's first child had been a son, her sister wouldn't have had to suffer.

All of this made her live in the shadow of being a defective product since she was a child, making her feel that she had to constantly fight to defeat others in order to be qualified to live.

Xia Sheng closed her eyes and leaned against the wall, the people inside still cursing each other.

It was like she was back to the night her parents divorced, with people outside constantly arguing, constantly arguing and smashing things.

She knew that no one would want them anymore.

She hugged her sister, wanting to jump out of the window.

Her sister looked up at her and whispered: "Sister, shall we go to the closet and braid our hair?"

She and her sister would pretend to have beautiful long hair in the closet and braid each other's hair.

They braided their hair all night and were finally taken away by their mother.

In her mind, her father had died that day.

Yue Qin knew that whenever his lover faced the past, she would reflexively become the helpless child she once was. He hugged her comfortingly, his ears also listening intently to the people inside.

As he listened, Yue Qin was stunned.

"You heartless, cold-blooded woman, you could even kill your own son, and now you're getting your just desserts." The man said through gritted teeth.

The other person, who had been full of energy, suddenly fell silent.

"What, cat got your tongue? Did you have nightmares when you aborted the child?" The man still remembered that he had asked someone to check the gender of the child and had been so happy to hear that it was a boy that he hadn't slept for two nights.

"If you hadn't aborted him, you would at least have a son by your side now." The man said with pity.

Xia Sheng wiped her tears, picked up the fruit basket, and walked in.

Mr. Kang arrived holding Little Kangkang just in time to hear Violent Mom's outburst: "I'll take care of my mother. You should go back and raise your own son. Although in my eyes, it's no shame to lose to me, I'm the defective one in your eyes, and he could even lose to me, what is he?"

The middle-aged man was probably angered and said, "Xia Sheng, how can you speak to me like that! That's your brother!"

Yue Qin remembered this. Xia Sheng had told him about it, but he pretended not to remember and asked his wife in a low voice, "You have a younger brother?"

Then it dawned on Yue Qin: "I remember now, it's the half-brother you mentioned before, the one who's only two years younger than you? The one your father raised instead of you?"

Mr. Kang could feel that Yue Qin was really angry inside. So this was his angry form.

"That's where you're wrong. A man should raise his own biological children first, and only then should he use his extra love and money to raise other people's children."

As expected of a truly loving couple, the one who never lost his temper was now losing his temper.
