Chapter 103: The Night Before Going Back

The young man felt terrible and embarrassed. He felt like shrinking into himself, unable to even look up at the other person.

The other person had just arrived from the company and must have seen the video. He had experienced it once and now had to see it again, especially since it was all over the internet.

The young man stood obediently in the study while Yue Qin sat down beside him.

Neither of them spoke.

The young man didn't know what to say.

In the past, if someone wronged him, their relationship would be over. He would definitely retaliate, and even after the revenge, the relationship would still be finished.

But him, wronging someone else? Mr. Kang's past life was too chaotic; he could hardly recall ever wronging anyone. But even if he did, saying sorry wasn't something he could easily do.

A simple "sorry" felt too insignificant. What he subconsciously wanted was for Big Dad to return to his company. Big Dad's current job was a waste of his education and talent. He even planned to offer a raise.

Traditional culture didn't teach apologies, and the adult world even less so.

In most cases, those who apologized wouldn't be forgiven anyway. Because if apologies worked, what would be the point of having police?

That's why the words "I'm sorry" were so hard for the young man to utter.

After a while, Big Dad said, "I didn't agree to their PR's request."

Mr. Kang, who had forgotten about the company's current PR crisis because of him, was stunned for a moment. "It's okay, it's okay, don't worry about them."

"They offered me fifty thousand to sign a contract and publicly admit that I stole something from the company and you caught me red-handed."

"Damn it! They are insulting! I'm going back right now!" The young man was so angry that his face turned red, wishing he could go back and fight them right away.

Yue Qin sighed and pulled the young man back. "Take a deep breath, don't be so hasty."

Mr. Kang finally realized he had lost his temper again and quickly took a deep breath.

"When you go back, you must stay calm when things happen. You have to consider the bigger picture before making any decisions." Yue Qin still favored the young man he had spent so much time with.

The young man nodded vigorously. "I will, Dad… Minister Yue, I'm sorry."

"I've been thinking, you must be curious about the reason because it wasn't your fault." The young man started crying as he spoke.

Yue Qin looked at him, waiting for him to explain.

"I… I actually wanted to fire you from the beginning. I always felt that the company was mine, so everyone in the company should be from my faction. I subconsciously felt that anyone not promoted by me wouldn't be on my side because everyone I met since childhood was like that. You were promoted by my second uncle's faction."

"That's the fundamental reason."

"And when I met you, I was drunk. Little Parrot kept looking at me. I was never a good kid. I might not have even seen you clearly at that time, just a blurry image. When I was a child, other kids had their parents to pick them up, and they would look at me with those strange eyes. That's why I said those things…"

"Essentially, it wasn't your fault, it was my problem. I'm sorry…" The young man's nose turned red as he spoke, his tears flowing freely.

Yue Qin waited for him to cry for a while until he calmed down. Then he said, "I forgive you. You have to be a mature and calm boss from now on."

He thought the young man would stop crying, but instead, he cried even harder.

"Why did you forgive me?" The young man cried his heart out.

"Personally, I told you before that I would treat you as my son, and now you are still my son. Children make mistakes, the important thing is to learn to take responsibility and change. For a father, the important thing is not to vent his anger but to see that his child has recognized his mistake."

"Professionally, you are not a bad boss. Most of the people you fired before were freeloaders related to the company. You also have plans for the company. You just lack a little courage, the courage to face yourself and the world." Yue Qin patted the young man's shoulder.

"Then can I still take a family photo with you today?"

"Yes, you are still my son today."

For the family photo, Mr. Kang's eyes were once again swollen to slits.

Not only did they take a family photo, but Mr. Kang also had a Mid-Autumn Festival reunion dinner with them, video chatting with his grandparents and even eating the five-nut mooncakes made by his dad.

Five-nut mooncakes! Delicious!

But what had to come would still come.

Mr. Kang sat with his brother, mom, and dad at the Master's house.

It was almost unbelievable how smooth everything had been.

In the past, whenever he wanted to do something, there would always be obstacles, always something going wrong.

But today, even on the way to the Master's house, they had all green lights, not a single red light. As soon as they arrived, a parking space miraculously opened up.

What was supposed to take more than an hour was done in 40 minutes.

And so, they found themselves in this awkward situation. They had left two hours early, worried about traffic.

Now, they still had more than two hours before the Master's ritual.

The family of three sat in the Master's small room, watching him prepare instant hot pot…

Perhaps feeling the silence, the Master said, "Modern technology is truly amazing. In the past, we only had instant noodles, but now we have instant hot pot."

Earlier, Yue Qin noticed that the Master hadn't eaten, so he offered to take him out for a meal since they had time.

But the Master insisted on experiencing this high-tech marvel, which led to the current scene of a family of four watching him eat instant hot pot.

The Master poured some water into the container, added all the ingredients, and soon the hot pot was boiling. The spicy aroma of hot pot filled the entire room.

"This hot pot is good. Last time you all left in such a hurry, there were still some things I didn't tell you."

The Master covered his little hot pot, letting it cook quickly.

He pulled up a stool and said, "When we return to our own bodies, there might be memory loss."

"Scientifically speaking, it's understandable. After all, memories are stored in the spongy tissue of the brain…" the Master said.

Spongy tissue? It's called the hippocampus! But if your body is swapped, why bother with science?

Mr. Kang held back his words, reminding himself not to offend the Master.

"Memories are stored in the hippocampus of the brain. When you switch bodies, you might lose this part of your memory."

Mr. Kang couldn't help but blurt out, "Then how do you explain that I still remember the memories from my original body after switching to this body?"

The Master glanced at him nonchalantly and said, "I reserve all rights of explanation."

Mr. Kang felt a surge of frustration. Why didn't he mention this important detail earlier?

Was he really that lucky? Was he the kind of person who could escape unscathed after being told about potential risks?

He was extremely unlucky, especially recently. Extremely unlucky.

Let's analyze:

He hoped Big Dad wouldn't find out - he found out.

He hoped Violent Mom wouldn't find out - she found out.

He hoped Dad wouldn't find out his true identity - he found out.

He hoped to stay a little longer… but he had to leave soon, and before leaving, he had to endure another blow.

Did this sound like a lucky person? He was simply a cursed child who attracted misfortune!

Now, he hoped his memories wouldn't be erased, which meant they most likely would be.

Mr. Kang was under no illusion about his luck. Panic seized him.

These memories were too precious to him. His mind raced through a montage of moments: Big Dad's sesame balls, Violent Mom's ferocity, Violent Mom's piano playing, Violent Mom's tough love, Big Dad's rice rolls, Big Dad's sukiyaki.

The three of them, gathered around a steaming hot pot, the warmth from the sukiyaki filling the air.

Dad teaching him how to brew alcohol, forgiving him after he apologized, teaching him how to interact with others, how to stay calm.

All of these experiences transformed him into a better person, a true adult.

And now, he was told that he might revert back to that foolish boss?!

The young man wanted to scream and bite something out of frustration!

Just then, a hand rested on his head. Mr. Kang turned his head and met Big Dad's gaze.

Right, don't panic. Stay calm, be rational.

"It's okay, even if I forget, it's fine. You can come find me. I have a secret that I've never told anyone. You just need to tell me this secret, and I will definitely believe you. Even if I don't, you can use this secret to threaten me."

The young man glanced at the Master, then leaned close to Big Dad's ear and whispered something.

Big Dad's expression turned unreadable.

It was as if he was thinking, "If you don't even remember me, and you tell me this kind of secret, are you sure you won't silence me afterward?"

The Master, who had stopped eating his hot pot, nodded. "He will definitely be silenced."

Mr. Kang glared at the Master. This man was truly defying science! He could hear their conversation from so far away? Wait, was he actually answering Big Dad's inner thoughts?

This was too unscientific!

The Master held up his instant hot pot. "Science."
