Chapter 143: I Grew Up

Xia Ling walked towards the balcony and noticed that the furniture in the house had changed quite a bit.

The sofa was still the same sofa, and the TV was still the same TV, but there were two adult jackets on the sofa.

The person on the balcony was more of a young man than a teenager.

"Do you still remember me?" Xia Ling was a little happy. The last time she saw her little nephew, he was only a little over three years old.

"How old are you now?"

Mr. Kang immediately understood what she meant and felt embarrassed.

He threw the wet quilt cover into the basin, stood up, wiped his hands, and introduced himself politely: "Hello, my name is Kang Yue. You can call me Big Kangkang if you want. You didn't travel through time."

Xia Sheng opened the door, and her younger son entered with his schoolbag on his back. He threw the schoolbag on the sofa: "Brother, Mom said you're washing the quilt at home?"

The next second, Little Kangkang's eyes lit up, and he ran towards the balcony: "Auntie! I can talk now!"

Xia Ling didn't believe it at first. The young man in front of her clearly looked a lot like her little nephew. Not only that--

He was washing the quilt at her sister and brother-in-law's house!

"How is that possible?"

As soon as she finished speaking, someone came back. A small figure rushed over.

Xia Sheng was also surprised, then delighted: "Lingling?"

Xia Ling picked up Little Kangkang. Only then did she realize that this young man washing the quilt was really not Little Kangkang all grown up.

"Auntie, I can talk now." Little Kangkang patted his aunt's shoulder and whispered in her ear, "I didn't tell anyone about the things you told me not to tell anyone."

Xia Ling went to university in this city and often visited her sister's house. Her little nephew couldn't speak, so she often talked to him.

Holding the little boy in her arms, Xia Ling couldn't help but ask, "Sis, did you hire a male nanny?"

Otherwise, how could she explain why this young man was washing the quilt at her sister's house?

Xia Sheng glanced at Mr. Kang, who didn't know how to introduce himself, and said, "He is your brother-in-law's cousin."

They had agreed on this relationship before. After all, it would be strange for an adult to live in another adult's house all day long without any relationship.

Xia Ling responded with an "oh" and said, "No wonder he looks so much alike. When I first came in, I thought I had traveled through time and Little Kangkang had grown up."

Xia Sheng hadn't noticed it before, but after hearing her say it, she realized that their eyes did look a bit similar.

However, there were many people in the world who looked alike, which was normal.

Xia Ling put down her little nephew and stood in front of her sister: "Sis, do I look good like this?"

In fact, Xia Sheng had noticed that her sister now had long hair and was wearing a dress. She had become a great beauty after not seeing her for half a year.

She couldn't help but touch her sister's long hair: "You look good. I'll braid your hair for you later." She really missed the days when they were young and she would fantasize about braiding each other's hair.

However, the next second, she saw her sister take off her hair directly--

"Sis, I knew you would like me like this. I'll let you enjoy it for a bit. Wearing a wig is too painful."

Xia Sheng wanted to laugh but held back. She took the wig from her sister's hand: "Don't mess it up. It's hard to manage if it's messed up."

Xia Ling had been gone for half a year. Xia Sheng looked at Big Kangkang and Little Kangkang, who were looking at them, and pulled her sister into the study room next to them to chat.

Mr. Kang looked at the long hair on the side and couldn't help but ask Little Kangkang, "Under what circumstances would your aunt hit someone?"

Little Kangkang thought for a moment and recalled, "When she's angry."

In the past, whenever someone said he couldn't speak and was a fool, his aunt would hit them.

Mr. Kang: "Then if someone washed the quilt she was going to sleep in, would she hit them?"

Little Kangkang shook his head.

Mr. Kang was still a little worried and quickly asked someone to buy a new quilt.

"I've really grown up now!" Xia Ling sat on the sofa.

Xia Sheng only felt that this sentence was really familiar. Mr. Kang outside also often said that he had grown up.

Where did he grow up? He was still like a child, with the hairnet of his wig headband messed up.

"Where have you been these past six months?" Xia Sheng asked as she gently removed the hair clips one by one.

Xia Ling was much taller than her sister. She sat obediently on the stool with her hands on her knees, letting her sister remove the hair clips for her like a child. She said, "I went to do something big!"

"I know you went to do something big. What big thing did you do?" Xia Sheng was always anxious about this sister.

When her sister was in puberty, she wasn't rebellious at all. Other girls were experiencing their first love, but she was studying obediently and didn't even play with boys. She just wanted to get into a good university.

But when she went to university, her belated rebellion came. She cut her hair short, fought with people, and failed three courses in one semester.

Xia Sheng had a big headache. She had to give birth to a child at that time. Fortunately, her sister finally graduated successfully, but after only a few days of work, she ran away again.

Now that she was finally back, she had time.

Xia Sheng removed the hair clips from her sister's head one by one, then took out the hairnet. Her sister's hair was very thick and hard, but it only reached her ears.

"Why aren't you talking?" Xia Sheng touched her sister's short hair. "Have you thought about what you want to do in the future?"

"I've thought about it." Xia Ling took out a bank card from her pocket. "Sis, I don't want to get married or have children in the future. Is that okay?"

Xia Sheng was stunned for a moment. If it had been in the past, she might have been a little anxious, but now it was different.

She silently chanted in her heart, "My sister is an adult now, not the little girl who needed her protection."

"That's fine. If you don't get married and have children, what do you want to do with all your free time?"

You have to have a plan.

Xia Ling was stunned. She turned her head to look at her sister and frowned. "Sis, has brother-in-law been bad to you lately?"

"No." Xia Sheng said.

"Then why did you suddenly agree?" In the past, whenever she said that she didn't want to get married or fall in love, her sister would think that her parents' experience had left a shadow on her and would want her to experience the beauty of love and marriage.

Now that she had suddenly changed her mind, Xia Ling instantly became alert. She rolled up her sleeves, looking like the most awesome person in the world.

Xia Sheng pressed her sister back into the chair and continued to tidy her short hair. She said, "I used to think that you had to try some things before you knew if they were right for you. You can't not try just because others have failed."

"Now…" Xia Sheng tied two small pigtails for her sister. "You're an adult now. You can decide for yourself whether you want to do something or not. But you have to figure out what you want to do in the future. Otherwise, when others are getting married and having children, you'll be idle and bored."

When Xia Sheng finished saying this, she felt grateful to have met Big Kangkang. She had learned something from him.

Big Kangkang, who was outside, thought for a moment, looked at the closed study door, and asked Little Kangkang, "Little Kangkang, your aunt thinks I'm you."

Little Kangkang helped his brother brush the quilt, his eyes fixed on the quilt. This was the quilt his aunt was going to sleep in tonight, so it would be better to wash it quickly.

His brother was too lazy. Mom had asked him to wash the quilt yesterday, but he only washed it today.

So Little Kangkang replied perfunctorily, "Yeah."

"She even hugged me and said how come I've grown so much."

"Yeah." Little Kangkang replied perfunctorily again.

Mr. Kang didn't mind his perfunctory reply and continued to ask, "Does your aunt have a boyfriend?"
