Chapter 85: Acting Like a Little Brother Again

Mr. Kang knew how to please people. Many people had tried to please him before, so it was easy for him to use those tactics.

He smiled shyly and said in a small voice, "Mom works so hard every day. Mom should eat more."

Yue Qin was a little surprised and said, "Baby, don't be like this. Dad steamed a lot of buns, we're not short of one or two."

Yue Qin didn't like it when parents saved all the good food for their children, and he felt it wasn't necessary to do the opposite either.

Yue Qin always felt that the relationship between parents and children should be more equal.

Mr. Kang obviously didn't understand this. He was busy showing his loyalty to the violent mother. "No need, no need, I don't like to eat meat. I only need to eat one steamed bun. Give the meat buns to Mom."

As he spoke, he found that his current position was not convenient for the next move, so he got down from the chair, put his hands on the dining table, rested his little head on his hands, and looked at Xia Sheng pitifully. He even tilted his head on purpose and said in a childish voice--

"Mom is the best mom in the world."

In the past, whenever his girlfriends made such an expression and said such words, he would feel very sorry for them.

Then they would act coquettishly--

"Kang Ge is the best boyfriend in the world!"

He would be unable to resist buying them whatever they wanted.

Of course, he didn't want the violent mother to buy him things. He just wanted her to accept him.

Xia Sheng's mind was a mess. From yesterday until today, she had been trying to make sense of things and had finally figured out a few things:

First, the soul inside her son, from the moment he could speak, was not the son she had carried for 10 months, but Yue Qin's boss.

Second, the reason the boss was in her son's body was that her son had made a wish. Her real son wanted to be a parrot, so she couldn't lose her temper for now. She had to stay calm.

Third, Yue Qin knew that the child was not theirs, but he didn't know that he was his former boss.

Xia Sheng had barely slept last night. When she opened her eyes, this was all she could think about, and when she closed her eyes, it was the same thing. Early in the morning, she couldn't bear it anymore and finally figured out most of the truth.

But now, the boss was revealing his true colors.

She hadn't done anything at all, but he was acting as if he was afraid of her, and he was even threatening her with his words.

Wasn't the subtext of his words that he only ate steamed buns every day?

She knew this trick too well. When she was a child, she often couldn't understand the hidden meaning behind people's words and had been fooled again and again.

Xia Sheng felt a surge of anger in her heart. Looking at her son, seeing the adult-like calculation on his face, she couldn't help but clench her hands tightly. However, she just handed over the mushroom bun and said, "You need to eat well in the morning."

In just a few moments, Xia Sheng realized that she had grown up. She had learned to compromise. "Children need to eat well to grow. You can't just eat steamed buns."

She had once gritted her teeth and told her mother that she would never compromise in her life.

But at this moment, she compromised. She calmly conveyed her message: I know you have my son's body in your hands.

Xia Sheng could feel her anger, but for the first time, she controlled it.

At the quiet dining table, Xia Sheng lowered her head. She felt as if her consciousness was standing on the other side, calmly and rationally watching everything.

This was something she would never have been able to do before. It turned out that people really did grow up unconsciously, and that people really could change.

Some people said that once a woman became a mother, she would become mature, stable, and tolerant, and the edges and corners of her personality would slowly soften.

Xia Sheng had never felt this way. In her subconscious, she was still the same person she was as a child. If someone made her uncomfortable, she would definitely not let them off easy.

But now, she was different. She had controlled her emotions. Even though she was being provoked and threatened, she still managed to keep her cool.

She could even give the other party a smile like all adults did and appease their emotions.

Seeing this, Mr. Kang was even happier. As expected, his method was effective! He happily ate the mushroom bun and casually used the catchphrase of one of his ex-girlfriends:

"Mom, you're the best to me! I love you so much!"

See, there were still benefits to having many relationships. At least in terms of pleasing people, he was unrivaled!

In Mr. Kang's short life, his interpersonal relationships followed a fixed pattern:

Superior and subordinate. This kind of superior-subordinate relationship was not limited to the workplace but also permeated all aspects of his life. In all kinds of interpersonal interactions, there always had to be one person who was in a superior position and the other in an inferior position. The person in the inferior position had to constantly please the person in the superior position, constantly giving in and compromising.

Only then could the relationship move forward.

He had always been the superior, the one being flattered, the one who never had to give in.

But that didn't mean he didn't understand these things. He knew what a subordinate should do to get along better with their superiors.

Only someone who had been a superior would know what a superior truly needed.

Although Yue Qin thought it was a little strange, he didn't pay much attention to it.

It was Saturday, and school was out. Xia Sheng didn't have to go to work either. Yue Qin had contacted a metaphysics master online, hoping to get some help.

Yue Qin wanted to go see if the master could help them.

"The company called me and said I need to go to a mobilization meeting," Yue Qin said, having already prepared an excuse.

"The food for you two is on the second level of the refrigerator. I've posted the instructions on the refrigerator door," Yue Qin said. "Little Parrot's food is ready and in the cupboard. Don't put it in the refrigerator. He has a sensitive stomach and can't eat cold food."

Xia Sheng nodded. "I've made a note of it."

Mr. Kang was stunned. Dad was going out? He panicked a little. He had been alone with his mother before, but most of the time, he had been in the role of her son.

Playing the role of a son was a piece of cake for him, but now...

Mr. Kang quickly recalled how to please people, how to make people like him!

As soon as Yue Qin left, only two people and a bird were left in the house.

However, Little Parrot hadn't slept well last night, so he had been catching up on sleep all day.

Mr. Kang really wanted to wake him up and ask his brother to save him.

But he held back. He sat obediently on the floor, playing with building blocks. Children playing with building blocks were so cute.

Xia Sheng was on her laptop nearby, searching for something.

Mr. Kang took a quick glance and saw that Xia Sheng was searching for "human soul"...

Mr. Kang thought for a moment and said, "Don't worry, my dad and I attach great importance to this matter. We will definitely handle it properly and give you a satisfactory outcome."

Xia Sheng found this sentence very familiar. It seemed like one time when something happened at the Feiyue Group, their PR person had said the same thing:

"The leaders attach great importance to this matter and will definitely handle it properly, giving the public a satisfactory outcome."

Xia Sheng had grown up. She didn't get angry. She just said, "Thank you."

Mr. Kang immediately said, "You're welcome. If you need anything, you can tell me. I will definitely help you."

The child was a little embarrassed as he continued, "Actually, I had a very unfortunate childhood just like you, so I can understand your anxiety right now. To be honest, every time I hear you play the piano, I feel a strong resonance."

"I've been to the Golden Hall in Vienna to listen to concerts, but I've never felt such a resonance."

Xia Sheng, who had also had an unfortunate childhood, kept her eyes on the computer screen and said expressionlessly, "...Oh."

Right, a childhood filled with nothing but being beaten up and beating others up, and a life where listening to the piano at the Golden Hall in Vienna didn't resonate with you.

They were both unfortunate childhoods indeed.

Mr. Kang knew that his mother, like him, didn't know how to get along with others.

Before, when he was her son, she had no problem communicating. But now, he was just a stranger, and she probably didn't know how to interact with him.

Mr. Kang felt that compared to her, he was a social butterfly, so he had more of an obligation to start a conversation.

What topic would be good? Mr. Kang thought of how he used to get along with his father and immediately had an idea.

"By the way, Mom, have I ever told you about Kangkang at school? He's the most popular teacher in our school. All the children in our kindergarten love him, and he gets along well with the other teachers."

As soon as she heard this, the violent mother stopped what she was doing and turned to look at the child. "Can you tell me more?" she asked.

The violent mother was actually talking to him like that!

The child was excited to see that his tactic had worked and couldn't help but tell her more.

"You don't have to worry about him. He's also very capable as a parrot. He even has two good friends, an owl and an eagle. The owl and the eagle are both his younger brothers, and he's the eldest."

"He used to think he was a bird that couldn't talk, so he wouldn't speak. Now he can talk, but he's still very afraid of stray cats. I chase those stray cats far away every day so they won't go near him," Mr. Kang said, trying to take credit.

Xia Sheng remembered that when they went out before, he did chase away the stray cats. Giving credit where credit was due, Xia Sheng said sincerely, "Thank you."

"You're welcome. It's what I should do. He's like a brother to me. It's my duty to protect my little brother," Mr. Kang said, too embarrassed to say "big brother," so he just said "little brother."
