Chapter 86: Chapter 86

Sheng Yi took a gun out of his pocket and pointed it at First Mate Zhai.

Bei Nuan thought, Sheng Yi spread the news that Nie Bei’an and the ship's strongest fighters had gone ashore to search for supplies, even taking his gun with them. It turns out it was all a trap, specifically for First Mate Zhai.

Lu Xingchi must be around here. It's normal for the gun to still be here. Nie Bei’an definitely didn't leave either.

First Mate Zhai's face was so tanned that even when he paled, it wasn't very noticeable. Only his trembling lips showed his fear.

Facing the dark muzzle of the gun, he finally managed to ask, "CEO Sheng, why suddenly… how did you…"

"I can not only stand up, but I can also walk," Sheng Yi said calmly and gently. "And I can see you, very clearly."

Not only First Mate Zhai, but Bei Nuan was also a little confused.

Didn't the book clearly state that Sheng Yi's legs were injured in a car accident and he couldn't move, and that his eyes also had problems?

So these past two days on the ship, him sitting in a wheelchair and saying he couldn't see anything, was all an act?

"But, aren't you…" First Mate Zhai stared at the large bloodstain seeping through Sheng Yi's chest.

Sheng Yi also looked down at his chest and said casually, "Just red dye. I stuck a small packet on my chest. It bursts with a little pressure. Very convenient."

Since he had stood up, everyone else came over.

Lu Xingchi was really there, likely entrusted by Sheng Yi to play a part in their trap to catch the traitor. Nie Bei’an and Secretary Li were also there; they were no longer hiding and walked over.

As soon as Lu Xingchi arrived, he unceremoniously put his arm around Bei Nuan's waist and kissed her hair.

"Wherever there's excitement, there you are. You even dared to climb the lamppost. Such mischievousness. You deserve a spanking when we get back."

His actions and words were both intimate, and Bei Nuan immediately understood that this was clearly a show for everyone.

Nie Bei’an also smiled at Bei Nuan and said, "I was really afraid you'd fall into the sea just now."

Bei Nuan struggled in Lu Xingchi's embrace, but his arms were wrapped around her like iron clamps trapping a rabbit. Unable to break free, she had to settle down.

Bei Nuan argued, "It wasn't dangerous at all. Normally, if you stood on something the height of a lamppost base, you definitely wouldn't fall, right? Why do you think you'd fall just because there's an ocean next to it? It's all psychological."

They chatted casually, ignoring First Mate Zhai. First Mate Zhai stood there with his mouth half-open, speechless, watching them with an expression as if he had seen a ghost.

Bei Nuan knew what he was terrified of.

Bei Nuan was currently under "Type C" invisibility. To Lu Xingchi and the others present, Bei Nuan appeared as usual.

First Mate Zhai, however, couldn't see her at all.

From his perspective, Lu Xingchi was intimately embracing the air, flirting and bantering with the air, like a lunatic.

What was even more terrifying was that Nie Bei’an didn't find it strange and was even joining in the conversation.

And the most terrifying thing was that the air was actually talking.

To prevent Nie Bei’an and the others from noticing anything unusual, Bei Nuan quickly changed the subject. Pointing at First Mate Zhai, she asked Sheng Yi, "What are you going to do with him?"

Sheng Yi glanced at First Mate Zhai and gestured with his gun towards the railing at the edge of the ship. "Overboard."

It seemed he intended to force him into the sea.

Land was visible in the distance. They weren't too far from the shore, but that was relative to the ship.

Swimming to shore from this distance, even for an experienced sailor with good swimming skills, wouldn't be easy.

First Mate Zhai was terrified. "CEO Sheng, please spare me," he pleaded with Sheng Yi. "Can you put me ashore? Or give me a small boat? The shore is full of zombies. I won't survive for long even if I make it ashore."

Sheng Yi didn't answer and fired a shot at the ground in front of First Mate Zhai.

"Overboard," he said after firing.

First Mate Zhai, frightened by the gunshot, covered his head. This time, he was truly about to cry. Under the threat of the gun, he tremblingly climbed over the railing, gripping it tightly, and stood on the outside.

"CEO Sheng, this really wasn't my fault."

First Mate Zhai was still making a last-ditch effort.

"I've worked diligently for you for so many years, dreaming of becoming a captain. If I were the captain, I would never do these things. I was forced. CEO Sheng, don't you think it's unfair? In terms of seniority and experience, how am I not better than Nie Bei’an?"

Sheng Yi actually answered him.

"I've always felt you weren't qualified, and today I feel even more certain of my judgment. For your own personal gain, you colluded with those people on the fishing boat and released them. Have you considered how dangerous this is for this ship, and for so many passengers and crew members on board?"

"That's not how a captain acts." Sheng Yi gestured with his gun. "Go down. I now think you're not even qualified to be the first mate of this ship."

First Mate Zhai's face turned ashen, understanding that there was no room for maneuver. He was destined to go into the sea today. He looked down at the seawater below in despair.

"Wait." Bei Nuan finally broke free from Lu Xingchi's embrace and ran to the railing. She pulled an outdoor scarf from her space and quickly wrapped it around First Mate Zhai's head.

First Mate Zhai: ???

After putting on the scarf, Bei Nuan stepped back and said earnestly, "You're about to go into the sea. The water is cold. Wear this. It'll be warm."

Everyone: "…"

"Saintly Tolerance" finally became (5/5).

The mission reward was good. Bei Nuan watched with satisfaction as her Saintly Points soared.

Just as Bei Nuan pulled out the scarf, the countdown for Type C invisibility reached zero.

First Mate Zhai saw with his own eyes the angelic girl he had seen during the day suddenly appear out of thin air and thoughtfully wrap a scarf around him.

He was so shocked that he couldn't move. He opened his mouth, as if wanting to speak.

Sheng Yi didn't wait for him to ask anything and fired a shot at the railing.

Sparks flew. First Mate Zhai, startled, lost his grip and fell into the sea with a splash.

Bei Nuan leaned over and looked down, seeing First Mate Zhai floating on the surface. After paddling a few times, he turned in a direction, seemingly intending to swim towards the shore.

Bei Nuan thought, Sheng Yi, who so desired revenge, still showed mercy in the end.

First Mate Zhai had spent his life at sea; his swimming skills must be excellent. Although the shore was far, perhaps with enough luck, he could actually swim there.

However, Sheng Yi didn't let that happen.

He also walked to the railing, expressionless, and fired several shots downwards. First Mate Zhai's head, which had just been visible on the sea surface, instantly disappeared.

Without Sheng Yi needing to say anything, Nie Bei’an and Secretary Li dragged the already motionless Xing Quan and Wu Yi to the side and threw them into the sea as well.

With the consecutive gunshots, crew members on duty soon arrived, probably wanting to see what had happened.

"Nothing," Nie Bei’an said with a smile. "Our CEO Sheng is practicing his shooting."

The faint sounds of adults and children playing came from the swimming pool. The Vali had finally escaped the catastrophe described in the book, the one that resulted in heavy casualties on board.

Sheng Yi no longer needed to sit in his wheelchair and stood by the railing, stretching.

Bei Nuan stared at him, thinking, Why are his eyes and legs healed?

Even First Mate Zhai, who had been with him all along, didn't know. Perhaps it was related to his rebirth.

Sheng Yi stared down at the sea, confirming that First Mate Zhai had truly disappeared, before turning around and saying with a regretful tone, "It's a pity there's no alcohol on board. I really want to celebrate."

"I have some," Bei Nuan volunteered. "It's in my cabin."

Bei Nuan left for a moment and returned with two bottles of alcohol.

The ideal celebration would have been with champagne, but Bei Nuan didn't have any. She brought back two bottles of potent baijiu, both with high alcohol content.

Sheng Yi asked Secretary Li to find some glasses.

Secretary Li couldn't find small glasses and brought crystal whiskey glasses instead, giving one to each person and pouring a small amount of alcohol into each.

"Cheers," Sheng Yi raised his glass.

Lu Xingchi brought the glass to his lips, only taking a small sip. Glancing over, he saw Bei Nuan next to him downing the entire glass in one gulp.

Other people just said "cheers," but she actually did it.

Then she started coughing violently.

"So spicy," Bei Nuan exclaimed, then added, "Actually, it's quite good. Stimulating."

Nie Bei’an didn't really drink. There were many things to do on the ship, and he was afraid someone would look for him. He only took a symbolic sip and hurried off.

Sheng Yi and Secretary Li finished their drinks and also left, leaving only Bei Nuan and Lu Xingchi on the deck.

The sea and sky were both deep and rich in color. The moon was high and distant. The two sat on the deck at the stern of the ship, bathed in moonlight.

The Vali set sail again, heading towards the other side of Gala Bay, creating layers of white waves on the sea surface behind the ship.

Lu Xingchi refused to give her any more alcohol. Bei Nuan held her glass with both hands, cherishing the small amount at the bottom, sipping it little by little.

"Other guys always try to get girls drunk whenever they get the chance," Bei Nuan complained softly, cradling her glass.

Lu Xingchi's lips curved into a smile.

"The kind you're talking about aren't 'other guys,' they're 'creeps.' Normal people aren't like that. Do you think Du Ruo would force you to drink? Would Tang Tang? " Lu Xingchi paused, then continued, "Would Jiang Fei?"

Bei Nuan's mind, slightly dulled by the alcohol, thought for a moment and honestly shook her head.

Then she added, "Sheng Yi wouldn't either."

Lu Xingchi fell silent for a moment, then asked Bei Nuan, "You've only been on the ship for a day, how did you become so familiar with him?"

Bei Nuan suddenly realized that because she had been under Type C invisibility, Lu Xingchi had seen her clearly.

Her climbing the lamppost to save Sheng Yi, and then rushing to hold him when he was injured – Lu Xingchi, hiding nearby, must have seen it all.

Sheng Yi was a good actor. One injured, the other rushing to embrace – like a pair of star-crossed lovers in a tragic drama. In Lu Xingchi's eyes, the scene must have been quite stimulating.

Bei Nuan guiltily lowered her head and took a sip of her drink. "I thought he couldn't move and couldn't see, so I felt a little sorry for him and wanted to help him."

Lu Xingchi nodded and said softly, "I understand. You're not admiring the strong lately, you've switched to pitying the weak."

"What?" Bei Nuan didn't hear him clearly.

Lu Xingchi didn't answer. Instead, he picked up his glass, took a sip, and changed the subject. "Bei Nuan, you've been avoiding me since yesterday."

"Have I?" Bei Nuan denied it.

"Yes," Lu Xingchi said with certainty.

He leaned closer, wrapping his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder.

"What's wrong with me? Tell me. Don't ignore me for no reason."

His voice suddenly became completely different from usual.

Bei Nuan turned her head and saw him with his head lowered, chin resting on her shoulder, his expression clearly showing grievance.

He looked aggrieved, like a large dog suddenly neglected by its owner.

He didn't look scary at all, completely non-threatening, even a little pitiful.

Perhaps it was the alcohol, but Bei Nuan's heart suddenly softened. She reached up and stroked his hair. "I really wasn't ignoring you."

Lu Xingchi turned his head, nuzzling her hand, and gave her a smile that seemed harmless.

Bei Nuan felt a pang of guilt: There's nothing wrong with him. It was me who peeked at him, and then overthought things. It's not his fault at all.

Bei Nuan leaned against him, letting him hold her, feeling his broad and warm chest, the familiar feeling.

Being awkward with him these past two days was really an overreaction.

However, Bei Nuan suddenly realized this was a good opportunity to take advantage of the situation and negotiate.

"Lu Xingchi, speaking of which, there is one thing that's not so good about you."

Bei Nuan could feel Lu Xingchi's muscles tense. He immediately asked, "What is it?"

Bei Nuan complained, "You're always controlling me, telling me what to do and what not to do. I'm not a child."

Lu Xingchi, still resting his chin on her shoulder, softly defended himself, "Isn't it because I'm afraid you'll have a stomachache that I tell you to eat less pickled peppers?"

Bei Nuan frowned. "Not just pickled peppers. For example, now, I'm an adult. What's wrong with me having a little alcohol?"

Lu Xingchi was silent for a moment, then reached out, took the bottle of alcohol next to them, and placed it in front of Bei Nuan.

Bei Nuan turned to look at him.

"Here. Drink." Lu Xingchi pushed the bottle towards her.

Bei Nuan couldn't believe it.

"Drink as much as you want. Go ahead," Lu Xingchi said. "If you get drunk, I'll carry you back to your cabin."

Really?

Bei Nuan narrowed her eyes. "You're not planning to take advantage of me, are you?"

This was a blatant accusation. Lu Xingchi was speechless and reached out to take the bottle away from her.

Bei Nuan quickly snatched it back. "Of course you wouldn't. I was just kidding."

The moon rose higher and higher. The person in his arms softened, relaxing against his chest, clutching his shirt. She was clearly drunk.

Lu Xingchi realized that, just like the last time she drank rice wine in Yao City, she became very talkative when drunk.

"I don't want it anymore." Bei Nuan unhappily placed the glass on the deck and pushed it aside. "It's not good at all. Making me drink so much. Spicy. And I'm dizzy."

Lu Xingchi was silent. She makes it sound like someone forced her to drink.

Lu Xingchi sighed. "Done drinking? Put the bottle and glass into your space. I'll carry you back to the cabin."

Bei Nuan looked back at him, her face blank.

Lu Xingchi had no choice but to take her hand and use her fingertip to point at the glass.

The glass remained where it was; nothing happened.

Lu Xingchi didn't know how she usually put things into her space. Perhaps it required thought?

"Be good," Lu Xingchi coaxed her gently. "Put the things away. I need to carry you, and I don't have any free hands."

Bei Nuan seemed to ponder for a moment and tentatively touched the glass.

The glass disappeared.

Bei Nuan's face lit up with surprise. She widened her eyes and reported to Lu Xingchi, "It's gone!"

Lu Xingchi: "…"

Bei Nuan tilted her head and thought for a moment, as if suddenly discovering a new continent. "I see it. It's on the ground inside!"

Then she asked, "Whose warehouse is this? There are so many things inside… There's a big black canister, a boat, and that…" She squinted, as if trying hard to discern, "…is that a bomb?"

Lu Xingchi was startled. "Yes, it's very dangerous. You're not allowed to touch it!"

Lu Xingchi stopped paying attention to the glass and stood up himself. Then he bent down, scooped her up from behind her knees, and held her horizontally. "It's late. Let's go back to sleep."

Next time, I can't let her drink so much. Her space really is a dangerous warehouse. If she messes around when she's drunk, any accident could be serious.

Everyone on the ship was asleep. There was no one in the elevator, and the corridor was quiet.

Lu Xingchi took Bei Nuan directly back to her room and placed her on the bed.

Other people would be drowsy and just want to sleep when drunk, but Bei Nuan didn't look sleepy at all. Her face was flushed, her eyes bright and shining.

She sat obediently against the headboard, spaced out for a few seconds, then suddenly blurted out, "The countdown is over."

Lu Xingchi: ?

Bei Nuan said seriously, "It'll be gone tomorrow, so I have to hurry up and use it tonight. Lu Xingchi, I'll show you a magic trick."

Lu Xingchi: ??

Bei Nuan half-closed her eyes and muttered something.

Right before Lu Xingchi's eyes, she vanished into thin air.

Lu Xingchi: "…"

Although she was gone, Bei Nuan's cheerful voice came from the spot on the bed where she had been. "Type A invisibility! Yay!!"

Lu Xingchi: "…"
