Chapter 14: Chapter 14

Early next morning, the group set off towards Jiangcheng.

They had breakfast in the car, a lean pork porridge made by Bei Nuan.

The upper level of the spatial storage didn't experience time flow, unlike the lower level, which was no different from the normal space.

Bei Nuan had blanched the meat slices when she woke up in the morning, added rice, ginger slices, and water, and put the pot along with the gas stove in the lower level of the space to simmer slowly.

There was no wind in the space, and it was stable, making it perfect for use as a kitchen.

Bei Nuan consulted Little Three, "The space seems enclosed. If I light a fire and cook inside, will it use up all the oxygen?"

Little Three laughed, "No."

Bei Nuan asked again, "Then the heat from the stove won't escape, will it get hotter and hotter inside?"

Little Three replied calmly, "No. It's just like a normal house, you can use it without worry."

"So what's the principle?" Bei Nuan pressed, "It doesn't seem to conform to common sense in physics, does it?"

Little Three started to mock her, "Why do you care about the principle? You're already fetching things with your mind, you all have spatial storage and supernatural powers, and you're still discussing physics at your plane's level with me?"

Bei Nuan had just played a whole night of Werewolf and was used to finding bugs in other people's statements, and immediately heard the problem.

"You said 'you all have spatial storage and supernatural powers', who are 'you all'? Besides spatial storage, what other supernatural powers are there?"

Little Three instantly went silent, refusing to say another word.

After the porridge was ready, Lu Xingchi pulled the car over to the side of the road.

Bei Nuan took out another bag of vacuum-packed marinated eggs, and they all ate breakfast in the car.

"Bei Nuan," Du Ruo said while eating porridge, "We can't let you cook all the time. Tomorrow I'll make you Hainanese chicken rice and let you try my craft. I learned my Hainanese chicken rice from a famous Singaporean chef, it's quite good."

Du Ruo nudged Lu Xingchi, "Right?"

Lu Xingchi hummed in agreement.

Bei Nuan thought to herself: 'There's still tomorrow. You have no idea that Lu Xingchi wants to ditch me again, do you?'

After finishing her own food, Bei Nuan filled half a bowl of porridge for Jiang Fei and fed him spoonful by spoonful.

Jiang Fei was recovering well and was almost fully conscious. He lay motionless in the last row of seats, not making a sound.

Only his eyes were glued to Bei Nuan.

Bei Nuan had no time to pay attention to him, busy checking the mission interface in her mind.

Little Three, though silent, had released a new "Holy Mother's Voice" task on the interface.

This time, it was to reasonably say "Can't you be more generous?" five times, and the reward was a full twenty-four hours of double Holy Mother points.

Bei Nuan liked this task. Although five times was a bit much, it wasn't too difficult.

The only difficulty was that she had to not only say the phrase, but also make it sound reasonable in context, otherwise it wouldn't count.

Now on the road, with no one else around but Lu Xingchi and the other two, Bei Nuan started to think after receiving the task, how could she do something to make them not "generous"?

Lu Xingchi had finished eating long ago and was fiddling with his crossbow, occasionally looking back at the back seat.

His eyes were cold, as if he could see through everything. The muscle lines of his shoulders and arms were faintly visible under his white shirt.

He looked like a cheetah ready to hunt, elegant and powerful, impeccable, with a look that said he wasn't to be trifled with.

If she had to pick on someone, she had to pick the weaker one.

Bei Nuan turned her head and glanced at Du Ruo beside her.

Du Ruo, with his soft hair, had his long legs tucked awkwardly in the seat, oblivious to the fact that someone was plotting against him.

He was trying hard to scrape the bottom of the pot, trying to get the last bit of porridge into his bowl.

Feeling Bei Nuan's gaze, he looked up, a little puzzled, "Bei Nuan, what's with that look? Why do I feel like you're going to sell me off?"

Bei Nuan didn't answer and reached out to take the pot from his hand.

Du Ruo watched helplessly as Bei Nuan poured the precious, fragrant lean meat porridge into Jiang Fei's bowl, stirred it with a spoon, scooped up a spoonful, blew on it, and held it to Jiang Fei's mouth.

"Ah--"

The injured Jiang Fei lay in the back seat, looking at Bei Nuan and then at Du Ruo, refusing to open his mouth.

He said softly, his voice hoarse, "I'm fine, you give it to him."

"He's had enough." Bei Nuan shoved the porridge into his mouth.

Jiang Fei's eyes curved and he obediently opened his mouth.

Du Ruo was aggrieved.

"Why? I only had two bowls, and I clearly served it first."

Bei Nuan replied leisurely, "He's hurt like that, can't you be more generous?"

Holy Mother's Voice "Generous" task (1/5).

Holding the bowl in one hand and the spoon in the other, Bei Nuan wished she could grow a third hand to pat her clever head.

Lu Xingchi glanced back at them, his cold gaze falling on the spoon with which Bei Nuan was feeding Jiang Fei.

He suddenly spoke, his tone cold, it was unclear who he was asking, "He hit his head, not his arm, did he?"

Jiang Fei was startled for a moment, then struggled to sit up.

But it seemed to take a lot of effort, and after trying hard for a long time, he didn't succeed.

With an innocent look on his face, Jiang Fei said apologetically, "I'm a little weak. My bad, I'll do it myself."

"Do what yourself?" Bei Nuan pushed him back, "Just lie down if you're weak, I'll feed you."

Jiang Fei obediently fell back on the back seat and smiled gently at Bei Nuan, "Then I'll trouble you."

"It's no big deal." Bei Nuan scooped another spoonful and held it to his mouth.

Lu Xingchi stared at Jiang Fei.

Jiang Fei leaned forward, sipped the porridge from Bei Nuan's spoon, held it in his mouth, raised his eyes to Lu Xingchi, and gave him a very sincere smile.

Lu Xingchi turned his head expressionlessly and continued to fiddle with his crossbow.

Du Ruo, with no porridge left, reached for the bag of marinated eggs sullenly.

Bei Nuan was quick and snatched the bag away first.

There was only one marinated egg left inside.

Bei Nuan tore open the package and held the precious marinated egg up to Jiang Fei. "Do you want some?"

This time, Jiang Fei looked at Du Ruo first and shook his head.

"I'm full, you give it to him."

"He has others, you eat this." Bei Nuan pushed the egg against his beautifully curved lips.

Jiang Fei gazed at her silently and gently took a bite of the egg white from her hand.

Du Ruo was literally angered into a meme.

"This kind of marinated egg is so hard, can he even eat it? Will he be able to digest it?"

"But eggs are nutritious, look how pitiful he is," Bei Nuan repeated the line, "Can't you be more generous?"

Du Ruo: "…"

The SUV jerked violently.

Without a word, Lu Xingchi started the car and slammed on the gas.

The whole car shot out like an arrow, rushing onto the main road.

The scenery on both sides flew by, and the egg in Bei Nuan's hand almost flew out.

Jiang Fei almost fell out of the back seat, and hurriedly reached out his arm that couldn't hold a spoon to hold onto the back of the front seat to keep himself from really falling.

Bei Nuan had fully understood in the past two days why this book was called "Doomsday Fury".

Because Lu Xingchi drove fast and wild, the road conditions in the apocalypse were complicated, and he could easily pass through places where others couldn't. He rampaged through the zombie hordes without hesitation.

But it was the first time he had gone crazy like this when nothing had happened.

Du Ruo, as if he had found a kindred spirit, asked Lu Xingchi, "You can't stand it either, right? It's too much, isn't it?"

In any case, the Holy Mother's Voice "generous" task became (2/5).

Snatching food from a tiger's mouth could be done once, but not twice. If she did it again, Du Ruo would really go crazy.

Bei Nuan rummaged through her space.

"Du Ruo, I didn't let you eat the egg because I wanted you to save your stomach for this. Look! Ta-da! Braised chicken legs!"

The phrase "Can't you be more generous?" was so annoying that Bei Nuan simply stuffed the whole bag of vacuum-packed braised chicken legs to Du Ruo.

"Here. Isn't this better than marinated eggs?"

The braised chicken legs were big and fragrant, indeed much better than marinated eggs, instantly soothing Du Ruo's heartbroken self.

Gnawing on the big chicken leg, Du Ruo said, "This is more like it, Bei Nuan, I think I can love you again."

Lu Xingchi interjected coldly, "Love? This is love? You might as well marry a chef."

The big boss had entered indiscriminate attack mode, seemingly very unhappy.

Bei Nuan was a little puzzled: Clearly, it was all Du Ruo who was being targeted, and she didn't dare to provoke him, so why did it touch his reverse scale?
