Chapter 11: Chapter 11

There was a prison nearby.

It must have been during the zombie outbreak, when everything was in chaos, that these few escaped from prison.

Bei Nuan was relieved that the plot hadn't gone wrong at all and was exactly the same as in the original book.

The three who came in were all human.

Actually, it didn't matter if they weren't human. With Lu Xingchi around, a few zombies would be easy to deal with.

Seeing the three prisoners being let in, a woman screamed and screamed again and again as if she had seen a monster.

"What are you yelling about?" One of the burly prisoners looked up and glared at her.

The woman immediately fell silent.

Lu Xingchi helped them to carry the injured man to the wooden bench and asked, "Car accident?"

The burly man said, "Yes, we were driving, those things were chasing us from behind, and we weren't paying attention when we were dodging the cars on the road, and we rushed off the road and hit a tree."

The injured man was a young man, even with a face full of blood, you could still see his handsome features and high nose bridge.

"They say it was a car accident? What if it was a bite?" A middle-aged man said in a sharp voice.

"You insisted on saving them, what if you get everyone killed? What then?" A woman accused.

Bei Nuan thought to herself, if Lu Xingchi hadn't just cleared the zombies outside and saved you, you would have died already, and you wouldn't be in a position to worry about this now.

"Get these criminals out of here!"

"Criminals are not good people! Get them all out!"

Someone was hiding behind the crowd and instigating. There were too many people to see who it was.

"Yes, don't let them stay with us." Immediately many people echoed.

In the midst of the uproar, an old man craned his neck to look at the injured young man.

"I think, let's throw this injured one out first? We don't know if he was bitten or not, but he won't live long anyway."

Du Ruo couldn't resist arguing, "Old man, there are zombies outside, even young people may not survive, I see your age and physique, you probably won't live long either, why don't you go out with him?"

The old man's wife was not happy, "How do you talk? Do you know how to respect the elderly?"

Du Ruo was invincible, "Yes, we should respect the elderly, to be honest, I am a thousand-year-old fairy, logically everyone should call me grandpa."

The old woman was so angry that she trembled.

Du Ruo ignored her, reached across the table, handed the bag of chips to Bei Nuan, and asked with his eyes, "Want some?"

His mouth was very busy, not delaying his eating at all. In this short while, he had already finished more than half of the bag.

Bei Nuan took out a slice, tasted it, it was thin and crispy, and said to Du Ruo silently with her mouth, "Not spicy enough."

Then she took out another slice and wanted to feed Lu Xingchi, but felt that the atmosphere was too serious now, as if it was a little inappropriate.

"You all want to throw him out?" Lu Xingchi asked, looking around with the crossbow in his hand.

"That's right." Someone boldly stated.

Some people were timid and did not dare to speak, but their expressions showed that they agreed.

Lu Xingchi suddenly loosened up, "Okay, we're leaving anyway, we'll take him with us."

He asked the other two prisoners, "Do you two want to stay, or come with us?"

The two prisoners looked at each other and lowered their heads without saying a word.

Although they had not left their injured companion behind along the way, they had been chased by zombies all the way, narrowly escaping death. Finally, they found such a stable place, and neither of them wanted to leave again.

The zombies at night were too scary, it would be good to survive the night and then talk about it.

Lu Xingchi understood what they meant and motioned for Bei Nuan to open the rolling shutter door again. He reached out and lifted the injured prisoner up.

Du Ruo came over to help him hold the other side, not forgetting to carry the half-eaten bag of chips in his hand, and waved to the people behind him before going out the door, "Grandpa is leaving, bye-bye."

Several people went out of the shop door, behind them the rolling shutter door slammed down quickly and locked.

Outside, the moon was like water, the evening breeze was cool, and there were no new zombies coming for the time being.

Except for the strangely round and large moon, it looked no different from a normal night.

Lu Xingchi began to settle accounts.

"Bei Nuan, you opened the rolling shutter door without permission just now, did you violate…"

Before he could finish, Bei Nuan immediately retorted, "I didn't 'do it without permission'. I saw you two wanted to open the door, and they were all stopping you, so I sneaked over to help you open it."

Du Ruo supported, "She's absolutely right."

It was true, Lu Xingchi looked at Bei Nuan and did not bother her anymore.

The three men carried the wounded man forward.

Bei Nuan recalled the plot of the original book and thought to herself: Another opportunity to show off her Holy Mother side has come.

In the book, Lu Xingchi didn't want to take such a burden with him, and planned to find a hidden place to put him down, whether he lived or died, it was up to him.

But Bei Nuan in the book couldn't bear it, and pleaded bitterly. Finally, Du Ruo made the decision to take the injured man with them.

Who would have thought that once this injured man could move, he would become another physical damage output in the team besides Lu Xingchi.

Bei Nuan cleared her throat.

"Lu Xingchi, he looks so pitiful, why don't we just take him with us?"

Lu Xingchi replied indifferently, "Okay."

Huh?

Shouldn't it be a tearful tug-of-war for a hundred and eighty rounds?

If there wasn't a tug-of-war for a hundred and eighty rounds, how could she show off her Holy Mother side? How could she increase her Holy Mother points?

He actually agreed so readily?

"Wah-ha-ha-ha" rang out, Bei Nuan glanced over.

He agreed too quickly, and her Holy Mother points only increased a little.

A large chunk of Holy Mother points that were almost in her hands flew away like a duck, Bei Nuan was heartbroken.

Lu Xingchi looked back at Bei Nuan's expression, "I said 'okay', you're not happy?"

"No, of course not! I'm very happy!"

Bei Nuan snatched the bag of chips from Du Ruo's hand and sadly shoved a piece into her mouth, chewing it with a crunching sound.

The group followed the roadbed over the collapsed railway bridge.

In the book, they should have gone directly down the roadbed and continued on.

But standing on the towering roadbed, Bei Nuan couldn't help but look back.

She saw from afar, in the moonlight, the rolling shutter door of the small restaurant opened again.

The strong young men who had been guarding the door just now, armed with kitchen knives and rolling pins, pushed the two prisoners out of the restaurant.

Along the road, not far away, there were just a few zombies coming towards this side. Seeing people standing at the door of the restaurant, they were like seeing a feast, and rushed over like crazy.

The people in the restaurant saw that the zombies were coming again, and with a clattering sound, they quickly pulled down the rolling shutter door.

Bei Nuan thought to herself: Ruthless enough, they really didn't leave any way out for people.

The zombies rushed over, the restaurant could not be entered, there was no way to retreat, the two prisoners ran away.

Seeing Bei Nuan stop, Lu Xingchi also stopped.

He looked down at all this from his vantage point, his sculpted profile like a god in the moonlight, his long eyelashes lowered, his eyes as cold and indifferent as the moonlight, and no one knew what he was thinking.

He slightly raised the crossbow in his hand.

A few zombies fell silently.

Bei Nuan sincerely admired him: From such a distance, he could actually hit every shot, he was simply not human.

The two prisoners found that the zombies that had been chasing them relentlessly behind them had fallen inexplicably. Although they didn't know what was going on, they didn't dare to look back and check, and in a short while they ran out of sight.

On the other hand, from the direction of the small restaurant, there was another burst of rapid banging.

This time someone was hitting the door from the inside out.

Several large bags were soon knocked out of the metal rolling shutter door.

Bang, bang, bang.

One after another, it sounded desperate.

Bei Nuan looked up at Lu Xingchi and found that Lu Xingchi was also turning his head to look at her, as if waiting for her to say something.

The roadbed was too high, Bei Nuan had finally come up, she didn't want to climb it again, but she didn't want to break her character.

She had to ask him, "Why don't we… go back and have a look?"

Although it was a question, "Wah-ha-ha-ha" still rang out.

Bei Nuan suddenly felt that this sound was really annoying.

As soon as they got down to the road they had just been on, the rolling shutter door opened a crack again.

A man crawled out of the crack, his hair disheveled, it was impossible to tell which one of them he had been, but unfortunately, as soon as he showed his head, he was dragged back inside by something.

"You guys step back."

Lu Xingchi took a few steps forward and pulled open the rolling shutter door with one hand.

There was a burst of frantic roaring inside, but after a while, it was completely silent.

On the ground, everyone had received their own nail, and there was not a single living thing left.

It seemed that among the people who were in the restaurant just now, there really were people who had been infected with the zombie virus, and they had just passed the incubation period.

The space in the restaurant was too small, and the rolling shutter door was locked, there was nowhere to escape.

Lu Xingchi went in for a spin and actually carried the restaurant owner out again.

He was hiding in the storage room in the back kitchen, escaping the disaster.

The owner's eyes were wide open, unable to focus, and his whole body was shaking like a sieve.

After trembling for a long time, he suddenly stammered out a sentence.

"Don't kill me… I, I really didn't hear… I didn't hear anything…"

"Didn't hear anything?" Lu Xingchi asked.

The owner looked at Lu Xingchi in horror, his eyes looked like he was already crazy.

Lu Xingchi looked at him, suddenly lifted his crossbow, pointed it at his forehead, and changed his question, "What did you hear? I'll count to three. One, two…"

Before Lu Xingchi could count to "three", the owner suddenly spoke.

"Suppressant… zombie virus suppressant… that's all I heard, they killed everyone after dinner, they killed Xiao Liu, Xiao Zhao and the others, I hid, don't kill me…"

He finished in one breath, incoherently, and collapsed on the ground.

Bei Nuan was a little puzzled: This was not in the book, what kind of hidden plot was this?

The zombie virus had only been out for less than a day, how could there be a virus suppressant?

Du Ruo was wandering around the restaurant when he suddenly called out to Lu Xingchi, "Come and see this."

There were brown marks at the door of the utility room where the mop was kept.

Lu Xingchi opened the door and took a look. Inside were several people thrown there, two of whom were still wearing waiter's clothes.

It wasn't from a zombie's teeth, it was all close-range gunshot wounds to the forehead.

Someone took advantage of the chaos to commit murder.

"The owner wasn't scared by the zombies, he was scared by someone," Du Ruo walked back, "Someone silenced him."

Lu Xingchi wanted to ask the owner a few more questions, but found that he could no longer ask anything, so he had to let him go.

Lu Xingchi found the key to the rolling shutter door on the ground in front of the door, picked it up and stuffed it into his hand, "Lock the door yourself."

He didn't know if he understood.

The three of them left the restaurant, crossed the railway bridge, returned to the main road, and took the SUV out of space.

"What's the deal with the suppressant?" Du Ruo was still wondering.

"I don't know either." Lu Xingchi shook his head.

Several people put the injured man in the last row, Lu Xingchi directed Du Ruo, "You help him deal with the wound."

Du Ruo laughed, "You don't know how? You studied medicine for so many years for nothing?"

Lu Xingchi replied leisurely, "I studied psychology back then, I don't know how to do those things with knives and scissors."

"Nonsense, as if you've never been to an anatomy class."

Du Ruo raised his eyebrows, but still asked Bei Nuan for the first aid kit to help the man clean the wound, and by the way, glanced at the nameplate on his chest with his name and number written on it.

"His name is Jiang Fei? Not a bad name."

Wiping his face clean, this Jiang Fei's appearance was gradually revealed.

A shaved head was the most testing of one's appearance. This man had very short hair and was wearing rough prison clothes, but it did not affect his appearance at all.

On the contrary, it was like a handful of fresh snow that had just fallen on an old wall and old tiles, and like a monk who was dressed in coarse linen but so handsome that it made people feel cleansed.

Only his face was pale and his eyes were tightly closed.

Leaving the Ning City area, when even the factories on the outskirts of the city were out of sight, Lu Xingchi left the main road and drove along the bumpy path to remote places.

Finally, he parked the SUV by a grove of trees by the river, ready to set up camp.

There were no signs of human habitation as far as the eye could see, which was relatively safe.

Du Ruo leaned over to Bei Nuan, "Bei Nuan, I'm hungry, why don't you take out that… you cooked this afternoon…"

Hot pot.

He hadn't eaten it in the afternoon, and he was still thinking about it.

Bei Nuan looked at the car, "We can't eat in the car, can we?"

Du Ruo jumped out of the car, walked to the river bank, tilted his head and sized it up, "How about here? We can spread out a disposable tablecloth."

"No need, I have a table."

Bei Nuan silently searched in space.

Lu Xingchi and Du Ruo both thought she was going to pull out a small camping folding table.

As a result, a large, thick, shiny light oak dining table suddenly appeared.

Then one after another matching wooden dining chairs.

On the desolate riverbank of the apocalypse, a dining table was set up so ridiculously that it looked as absurd as it could be, as if it had gone to the wrong set.

Du Ruo: "…"

Lu Xingchi: "…"
